I dont think too many people will debate his skill. However, part of being a great basketball player lies in the effort you give and how you make those around you better. Sure he could do that, but he doesnt want to. What joy do you get out of defending what is probably the laziest high school bball player I have ever seen?

Congrat's to Scotty Hopson! I hope I get to see you play in Rupp in a few weeks.

If Hopson would play defense like Henderson from Holmes he would be the best by far. This is just IMO. I have seen him play a few times and that is just it. WHY turn it off. Always have it on. :thumb:

Seen them all play multiple times. I would have to give the edge to Hopson as of today. He has gotten so much better the last 2 years. He is blowing up big time on the national stage. If he holds out on his recruiting committment, we could be in for another Patterson saga.

 

Miller is very very good. And I can't wait to see him playing for Big Blue next year. I think he will rise to the challenge and be a great college player. But he doesn't always play with intensity at the high school level. Maybe it's due to the competition, and he will step it up big time at UK. I hope so, we sure do need him.

 

Hopson will only be in college 1-2 years before moving on to the NBA. I think Miller will need all 4 at UK to get to the next level. And I think he will.

 

I know I will get bashed as this board is heavily NKY and especially Mason County oriented. But if I could only pick one, I would have to probably go with Hopson.

 

But isn't it great, having 2-3 top tier players in KY this year. It is a win for all of us.

That's why I'm saying he will probably be a lot better next year when he is playing with people at his skill level. Right now he usually only plays hard when his team needs it, and they have won most of their games this season. Isn't that making your team better? Helping them win basketball games? Who cares if he doesn't try throughout the ENTIRE game, his team wins don't they?

Watch that clip and tell me again how Scotty is 4th or 5th in the state. I've seen several of those dunks first hand and believe me, the video does not do them justice. If Scotty played anywhere but a small private school in western Kentucky, this would not be even open for debate.

Is there anyone who would STILL like to tell me that Miller is better than Hopson?

Having seen both I would say Miller is better IMO. He works harder and has similar skills. How hard a player works is a huge part of how good he is ultimately. Being designated as a McDonalds All American is a great honor but in no way proves that Scotty is better than Darius.

Congrats to Hopson. I would have like to see Miller and Mack along there with him, but the chances of KY getting two or three in any given year are pretty slim as evidenced by this year's results.

Dunks don't make a player a great player. And if Hopson played hard much of the time on the big stage, which he hasn't done at times, some people would be a little more accommodating of him.
