Scotty Hopson

I really would have liked to seen Miller play with him on the McDonald's All-American team but I would much rather see them play together next year at UK.

I have seen both play. To me, I would take Hopson over Miller. Darius is a better shooter. Hopson is a better scorer and rebounder, and is a lot tougher.

Hopson is mos def one of the top players in the nation.

And Darius is probably the better passer,and defender. So it depends on what you want on your team.

The only two games I have kept up with when UHA played are the ones against Hazard and Cumberland. From reading the paper and watching the Hazard game, it seemed to me that UHA controlled the game. When the opponent would get close, they would just push the lead again. Hopson plays that way as well, in my opinion.

He scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebound against Cumberland, who is a solid team.

Yes, you are correct. Darius is a great passer and a good defender. Hopson's "D" is a little better IMO.

Regardless... it's a great honor for Hopson, and he is very deserving of it.

Not bad considering that he is about the 4th or 5th best player in the state. :devil:

I've only seen hopson play once and this is a great honor. As far as comparing him to Miller, I would take Hopson first too. Ive watched Miller numerous times and Im sorry to say this, but the kid does not play hard. I have much more respect for someone who will go out and play with determination every night. Miller only plays when he has too. If god would have only blessed me with such a problem....being good enough to only try when I have too. He's got a rude awakening next year with Billy G.

Hopson impressed me during the state All A (with the exception of stretches of lazy play), but I was more impressed with his teammate, Edmonson. That kid is a player!!! Long-armed 6'4 guard, great shooter and passer, and can dunk with the best of them. And solid defender, too. If I was UK I'd be talking to that kid.

This selection is primarily because of his national ranking in my opinion. Now, to debate his ranking is a legitimate argument. I have seen him play once and felt his effort was completely there, but when he wanted to take over the game he did. Is he one of the top players in the country? Yes. Does he always play like it? No.

:thumb:You hit the nail on the head. Scotty can take over any game at any time. I've watched a lot of basketball and he's one of just a few I've ever seen that can literally turn it on and off at will. He is the definition of an athlete. As for him being 4th or 5th in the state, that is just :lol:.

1= Mack Bryan Station

2= Miller MC

3+ Edmonson UHA

4= Hopson UHA

5= Henderson Holmes

If Hopson would play defense like Henderson from Holmes he would be the best by far. This is just IMO. I have seen him play a few times and that is just it. WHY turn it off. Always have it on. :thumb:

Hopson is deserving, but I think Miller is deserving as well.

Interesting that there are only two players that are undecided in the game, and Hopson is one of them. It is also surprising that Liggins didnt make it.

Hopson is the best player in the state of kentucky. Miller is good but im not sure he has the outside shot that Hopson has. Dont get me wrong Miller is a good player but when Hopson wants to play I believe he is the best player in Kentucky.

Hopson is the best player in KY, I really don't see how anyone can argue that. I really think he will shut everyone up for good next year when he has some real competition to play against in college, I believe that will make him play harder. And for everyone saying Hopson doesn't play "D", have you ever seen him play? His defense is almost identical to his offense, he can score when he wants or be lazy, and on D he can pretty get a steal, a block, or just help create a turnover whenever he wants. He definitely "can" play D or O with about any high schoolers in the country, he doesn't necessarily always do it but he definitely can.

Congrats to Scotty!

I dont think too many people will debate his skill. However, part of being a great basketball player lies in the effort you give and how you make those around you better. Sure he could do that, but he doesnt want to. What joy do you get out of defending what is probably the laziest high school bball player I have ever seen?
