Yes, there are two seniors being Wehry and Niehaus. There is still no set lineup for cov Cath. We will see against lex cath next week.

I heard many players are driven away due to politics. I have no affiliation with the program, but this is just what I hear. This could explain past players that have quit.

Yes, but I believe there is a greater potential breeding ground for such situations in schools that exist on private funding.

I think there is a reason why the "kids" aren't trying out. Some "kids" are tired of the, hmmm, how can I say this, interference with the program. What does it say when a person orders team jackets and equipment for the whole team and somehow some players are left out. It's a shame that someone is threatened by a "kids" talent vs another's lack there of. This Junior class at CovCath is very special but some needs to let the "kids" alone.

I think Shover may have been drawn away by the politics at CCH. I believe he was a better ball player than Holocher, yet for some reason he didnt start or play much:rolleyes:. I hear if you donate money you may buy your son a starting spot. Thats what i have been told.

 

If Coach K doesn't nip this in the bud, it will scare off kids that are deciding between CCH and another school. I don't know either kid, but everyone that I have asked about the situation feels that the better player was overlooked.

The bottom line is that Tyler Holocher was the best fit to start Shortstop last year for Cov Cath. He had been working the entire off season with the team to earn his own spot on the team and has done the same this year. Doing so all while Mitch Shover was playing basketball. That is no knock on Shover because he is excellent in both sports, but he was not working out with the team and doing everything else the others had been doing throughout the winter. Holocher puts in more time and effort into getting better than most, and deserved to start last year, as well as this year.

I'm confused?? If I remeber correctly, holicher played basketball sophmore year? How do kids work with the team during the winter if they are playing another high school sport during that time period?? (basketball is winter)

That is my mistake. Holocher did play basketball his sophomore year. But did not hesitate one bit to give it up this year so that he could focus all of his time and energy towards playing baseball. He had the skill to continue playing basketball, but chose to dedicate himself to baseball. But If Mitch really was the better man for the job last year Coach Krumps would have put him where he belonged. Coach Krumps would not jeopardize his chances at winning and keep a player in the starting lineup all year who didnt belong.

That was a judgement call by Coach Krumps. Holocher had doubled earlier in that game, but brought Mitch in for the squeeze, as he was the better bunter. And if I remember correctly Shover missed the squeeze and then ended up striking out.
