Shover was (is, actually) a good baseball player. I don't think this is a huge loss at all for CCH. A loss, to be certain, but they have solid middle infielders without him. It's certainly not like losing a top starting pitcher.

 

Heard CCH is now down to 13 juniors and seniors. Can that be correct?

 

He would have been their leadoff hitter. The CCH seniors were suspended for a game during the season and he played excellent and was used throughout the rest of the year.

He, along with the rest of the JV, played the game against Boone that the seniors were suspended. He went back to playing fulltime for JV after that. He was called up to varsity at the end of the year and got very minimal playing time. Highly doubtful he would have lead off. In fact, there is a reasonable chance he would not have started.

Shover was a very good baseball player, and this is a huge loss. I heard he was going to start ss this season. Maybe he is focusing on basketball?:confused:

I would tend to agree, not a loss at all, they already have Holocher & Lefever covering the middle, very solid gloves and both will hit for a high average (around 400).

Lefever is going to hit .400 this year? I don't think he hit anywhere near that for JV last year, did he? (Getting my info from an "inside" CCH source).

Get over Ryle's team last year it was last year. If we were talking about last year we all would have talked about Ryle, but were not. So Ryle will have a good rebuilding year like Beechwood had last year.:argue:

Pretty sure Shover led all categories. But that is just what I was told by someone involved with that team. I don't know that to be a fact. Nonetheless, that is a pretty big statement to claim any kid - much less one who never played varsity ball - will jump out and hit .400 against the caliber of teams CCH plays.

Oh well, we just keep going round and round. One post you claim last year is critical in deciding who will be good this year and in the next post last year's performance doesn't mean anything. Count Ryle out of the mix all you want. It is certainly your right to do so. I say they'll be there at the end. And Ryle and Beechwood will most definitely hook up this year and all our speculating now will be rendered quite meaningless. But my final statement on this is that if you think Ryle is devoid of talent this year, you are very, very much mistaken.
