The several other threads mentioning pizza tonight () made me decide this needed a thread of its own...Which is better, and why?

I'll go with New York. I like the thinner crust, and the small amount of tomato sauce it usually is made with.

I'm pretty sure theres a place in Lex to get New York style pizza...Anybody know about Louisville?

I believe there is one place downtown and one place off Man O' War near Hamburg. I have been to the one on Man O'War, but the name escapes me right now.

And I like the Chicago style pizza I guess. Really about the only pizza I eat anymore is the Little Caesars $5 pizzas.

My favorite is Tom Papa Dino's on Main Street in Florence, Kentucky. Been my favorite since 1965. Now a new guy in town at Newport on the levee is Dewey's Pizza and soon to be at Crestview Town Mall in Crestview Hills, Ky. is also good. However, I must stay with my all time in Tom Papa Dino's in Florence. JD

My favorite pizza in Louisville, as far as non-gourmet goes, is Impellizzeri's. I eat there so much they know me when I walk in the door! My other favorite pizza is Tony Boombozz, but it's a different animal altogether. :D

I always enjoyed Papa Dino's as well. Great hoagies that always seemed to hit the spot after a day at the track.

In general, I prefer NY-style to Chicago-style, but I don't mind some deep dish every now and then.

The best you'll get here are Spinelli's on Baxter (though they say Philly style), Luigi's downtown, and Frascelli's out in Crestwood.

What people call Chicago style and New York style outside of these two cities DOES NOT compare to the real thing. Unless you have had pizza in both cities you can't pick. Real Chicago deep dish is the best!!

^ I have had them both, and I promise I absolutely know the difference. But in layman's terms, Chicago Style is deep dish, with tons, and tons of toppings, then topped with the sauce. New York style is thin crust, huge slices, low on the sauce, light on the toppings, and gooey cheese....
