Will Abortion Be Overturned?

Featured Replies

I hope and pray that it will be overturned. I will support candidates that are against abortion but I do not really expect it to be overturned until the 1000 year reign. At that time no one will be pro choice.

Huckabee has very little chance of being nominated and virtually no chance of being elected. Ditto for Ron Paul. If I am wrong, and the stars allign in just the right formation and Huckabee is out next president, then I would expect Huckabee to nominate judges who would be inclined to overturn Roe.

If I am wrong and Ron Paul becomes president, I will paint my body red and streak across the Rupp Arena floor next season during the UK-U of L game while singing the Cardinals' fight song.

Well I'm voting for Paul for sure!

I don't see it being overturned with McCain appointing judges.

If you are for it being overturned , I assume you then say that its a crime and should have a penalty with it.

What is the penalty that you would propose?

It will not be overturned because we as a country are not willing to put a mother in jail.

I agree.

I also don't think morality should be or can be legislated. I personally don't think abortion is right, but I also don't think working the legal system to prevent them is the way to go either.

I think it should be up to each individual state to decide. Take to the people and let them vote. I am comfortable in saying that it would be outlawed in Kentucky.

We took the same sex marriage to the voters, and they did the right thing.

KY makes me proud!:thumb:

Personally I am against it.

Lets hope its never overturned

I don't believe in isolating my support of a candidate to one issue...regardless of the issue. I don't believe any candidate for any office can successfully influence the decision of the Supreme Court in 4 years. I believe in voting for the candidate that I believe can do the overall good for the country.

As to the issue of abortion specifically, and most "social" issues generally, the burden is on each community, each individual. If you want something changed, the change will not happen just becuase a law has been made, or overturned. Abortion, legal or illegal, will happen. The best thing to do is to work to eradicate the NEED for abortion.

McCain would appoint moderate judges who would be acceptable to Kennedy and Specter.

I don't understand this. McCain has said publicly that his models for Supreme Court justices are Scalia and Thomas. He supported the Born Alive Infants' Protection Act which banned partial birth abortion. He might not be as easy to peg as Huckabee, but he's not always looking to shift to the middle and I do believe he will appoint judges more likely to overturn that wretched decision.

McCain has also indicated that Alito is too conservative and he went to court against Wisconsin Right to Life to defend McCain-Feingold. The same type of judges who are likely to overturn Roe v. Wade, such as Samuel Alito, are also more likely to overturn McCain-Feingold.

I do not believe that McCain would appoint judges to the SC who are radical liberals but I also do not believe that he would appoint judges likely to overturn legislation bearing his name.

McCain might nominate conservative judges with no chance to be confirmed and then send a compromise nominee to the Judiciary Committee after Democrats reject his initial appointee - but I believe that McCain said and meant that he would draw the line at appointing somebody as conservative as Alito.

Maybe McCain would appoint Huckabee to the Supreme Court.....he would try to overturn Roe v Wade but do nothing to McCain-Feingold

LBBC, there are just as many people that call themselves Christians that support a war in a country that did NOT attack us. Some Christians think that is wrong. Some Christians think that any war is wrong. Some Christians don't believe in abortion, but also don't believe that it is their right to tell someone else what they can and cannot do with their own bodies.

Lastly, some Christians don't judge others "Christian-ness".

Jesus sure judged people's religion and gave us a pretty good model of it calling out other Christians that are not doing things that they are supposed to do.

Paul called Peter out for doing things that he wasn't supposed to do.

Not a bad idea, but I cannot see Kennedy, Biden, and Kerry confirming a Southern Baptist minister to the Supreme Court but Kennedy does owe McCain a few favors.

It probably won't be overturned but I will continue to vote for candidates that have a pro-life stance. I will NEVER knowingly place a vote for a pro-choice candidate.

The RNC and GOP as a whole has no interest whatsoever in losing its best campaigning tool.

Do you feel the same way about the DNC and bringing people out of poverty? THey sure mine that issue for votes?
