February 11, 200818 yr We can quote all of the scripture we want. We're still not going to put women in jail. This is nothing more than an academic exercise IMO.

February 11, 200818 yr How about Jesus calling Peter Satan and telling him to get behind him? How about Jesus telling the disciples they were dull? For those that were not "religious/Christian," he had a real "picked an individual up" way, but for those that were supposed to be following him, he was hard on them when they needed it. He was harder on the "disciples" because he seemingly expects more from those "on the inside."

I would not be for playing women in jail if it was illegal. I would be for putting doctor's in jail and permanently removing their medical license.

February 11, 200818 yr Would you not include all Christians "on the inside?" Sure. But be careful where you go with this. It becomes a dangerous thing as Christians begin to tell us "who we have to vote for" to be a good Christian. I don't just mean this in a Presidential sense. I recall vividly in '88 during the height of the SBC Holy Wars that Jerry Vines of Jacksonville, FL was running for SBC president vs. Richard Jackson of Phoenix. Vines' co-pastor (Homer Lindsay) stated: "If you are in the will of God you will vote for his man Jerry Vines." That's one of those times when I think we step over the bounds of speaking for God when we should not.

And I will be continued to be amazed by the Christians who call themselves Christians and yet vote people in office that think it is okay for this country to sponsor a form of genocide that is called choice. Rather than ask to vote for a particular person, I expressed amazement that Christians can vote people into office that support abortions in this country.

In the case of a murder for hire do you also favor putting the hitman in jail and letting the person who hired them go? If not, do you really value the unborn the same as others?

I agree with LBBC on jailing doctors who give abortions, not women who have abortions.

I am pro life, but the only people I've ever met who believe it is okay to take a human life through abortion all claimed to be pro life. How many supposed pro life people believe in a rape or incest exception? How many supposed pro life people believe that the punishment for murdering a fetus through abortion should be less than the punishment for killing other victims. Could it be that they don't really value the unborn in the same way? I refuse to condem those with a pro choice position because I've never met a pro choice person that believed that an early fetus was a person. And I sure won't question their credentials as a Christian. That judgement is way above my pay grade.

If God tells us in Scripture that he knew us before he was in the womb, how could a Christian look at an unborn baby and say it is not a person. God tells us one thing in Scripture but then they want to use a scientific reasoning for their stance. It seems the two firmly contradict each other. Does it not?
February 11, 200818 yr Looking strictly at a Christian viewpoint on the matter. God tells us one thing in Scripture but then they want to use a scientific reasoning for their stance. It seems the two firmly contradict each other. Does it not? To me, no it doesn't. Since God knew us BEFORE we were in the womb, it would seem to me that that scripture would prohibit all forms of birth control, including abstinence, as much as it prohibits abortion. Perphaps the meaning of that scripture is that an all knowing God has known us from before the time we existed. To me, it doesn't address the issue of when we began to exist. All I am trying to point out is that I don't believe most people, deep in their hearts, even the pro life, look upon the unborn the same as other people. I am pro life but I can't pretend that I believe that using a morning after pill, which I believe is wrong, is no different than drowning your children in a bathtub. The solution is to provide the types of community support and education that will make abortion increasingly rare. When we succeed in changing enough hearts, abortion will stop. Not before, regardless of who we elect.
