Mason Co vs Elliott Co Prediction 2/16

Featured Replies

Mason's last 14 regular-season games: Montgomery County (regional rival), Scott County (perennial power), Atlanta Centennial, Campbell County (arguably the best defense in the 10th), Lexington Catholic ('nuff said), Fern Creek, Henry Clay (who knew Moses and Boyd wouldn't play), Rowan County, Madison Central (always tough, especially in Richmond), Montgomery County again, Clark County (region's #3), Elliott County, Harrison County and Bryan Station (cough cough Shelvin Mack cough cough).

Looks to me as if Mason is trying to gear up for the post-season; and that Elliott County presented a challenge (run-and-gun with good outside shooting) that the Mason County coaching staff wanted to face. Always a good idea to schedule teams that play differing styles.

And it could be argued that this schedule is no more difficult that a typical 11th region second half of the season schedule.

Maybe 2hand was just trying to get a rise out of the posters predicting a Royals blowout.

Yeah I think so.

Cincinnati weather is calling for 4-6 inches of snow in Maysville tonight/tomorrow morning. More than a fair chance that this one won't get played.:irked:

I will be there, but my prediction is cancelled by mother nature.

If I remember correctly, these two teams meet next year too...in Sandy Hook. I really hope this one gets played tomorrow though.

And let's not forget that Bryan Station comes to the Fieldhouse for this season's final regular-season game. Nothing like a diet of creampuffs late in the year.:scared:

Just shows how much 2handslam knows & that he was only looking to stir the pot! Maybe he wants the thread closed

No, 2handslam doesn't think he knows it all or does he want this thread closed. Most everyone misread the sarcasm in his post wrong. Let me make it easy for you'all. If Mason's coach thought Elliott was the "cupcake, creampuff, etc." that a lot of people claim they are, why would he schedule this game at all, much less later in the year (as Mcpapa stated about the tough scheduling)? Most cupcakes, if scheduled, are earlier in the year for a "tuneup". If one would do a little research, he/she would see 2handslam is an avid supporter of Elliott Couny basketball, boys and girls. Now having said that, do I think Elliott will win this game? Probably not. Can Elliott win this game? Yes, with an "A" game, they can. Oh, yeah, just for Mchs, did I think Mason would need wins badly, ummm.....let's see now......NO. Just a part of my misread sarcasm.

Topic is Mason County and Elliott County, so let's get back on that path.

Elliott co. is deserving of all the hype they are receiving. You only get a special group like them in a small school once or twice in a lifetime. Mason co. has at least three times the population of Elliott co. Based on their #3 ranking Mason co. should win this game. But Elliott is a blast to watch, and are both quicker and faster than some think. I don't even live there, and I am not their #1 fan, but I will be pulling for them if they go to Rupp. Everbody loves Cinderella !:thumb:

Yes, they do, and we LOVE our Lions. Cinderellas sometimes turn into a prince in this case.

A couple of predictions are also on the EC/MC tickets thread.

Indians08 doesn't seem to be way out of line with the bolded prediction. Most seem to be predicting the Royals by double digits.

What exactly is a typical central ky person? A topic for another thread, I guess.

Back to the game, I will say this. If the Royals come out like they did (I wasn't there, but I heard) against Clark County, they may be so far behind that they can't get back in it. No reason to come out flat at this time of the year.

And doing quick math that is 27 say MC; 3 say Elliott. Taking the MC margins you get an average of a 14.48 point favorite for Mason. On the ranges I took the lower number. With the higher number you would probably have something closer to a 16 point margin.

Good luck to the Lions. I hope they pull away with an upset although it is unlikely.

Just curious as to why my 25 point win prediction was highlighted when there are a couple others that are higher (underlined). I'm not offended or anything, just curious.:ylsuper:
