Yeah, the call was correct but I think some around the area believes Corbin gets way too many calls at home.This perception probably leads to a lot of the frustration that was evidenced from the Pineville fans after the game. Personally, I have never seen any great bias in Corbin's favor at home. I know some will disagree, but I think for the most part that is a fallacy. Now, Clay County in Manchester during the Keith years, and even after, was a travesty of basketball justice.

 

Sometimes when you have a lot of success..........others tend to want to make excuses for it.

 

I have seen a few games where I thought they benefited.........but it has been a few years back. I don't think you can get a more evenly called game than tonight's game.

This is a Corbin team that could win the region or lose to any of eight or so region teams on a given night. They still have work to do, and tourney time is nearing.

Yes I will agree Wilson made a great play after a very bad decision. This kid is a keeper. He will make a bad play and then come up with 2 good plays. He never gives up and also never says die. This is a kind of kid I think any coach would want on their team.

What did you expect out of this year's team comin into the season? They are starting three Sophomores and have played most of the season and all of the summer without their best player. How would Jackson be without Brumback, Pineville be without Strange? I think considering all the obstacles in front of them, the kids have done a pretty good job. I think that any of about 8 teams could win the region. There is no dominate team like South Laurel was for the last two years.

Sports Overtime had a great angle of the last play. They showed it in slow motion and like many on this website agreed that the correct call was made.

 

Great effort by both teams.

Strange may be the best guard in the 13th. Does anyone have any stats from this game?

I totally disagree with the call by the referee. The number of free throws is solid evidence that the game was a very loosly called game throughout and that was a very touchy foul when considering the circumstances. That aside, even if it was a foul the basket should have counted and Pineville should have won with a chance of a free throw.

In regards to those who think that Corbin should have ran away with the game. Pineville played their usual zone at the beginning to try and slow the tempo and Corbin was hot shooting all night so that didn't last long. Corbin built a lead and Pineville switched to man. Corbin even shot well with Pineville in man, but it did slow them down enough for the Mountain Lions to catch back up and make it a game. It was a close game just like it should have been. Neither side should have won by big numbers. I feel that if these teams play in the region (knox central which is a neutral court***), the outcome may just be a little bit different.

I don't have anything else to say about this game or either team for the time being.

Good luck to the Redhounds and the Mountain Lions in the future. Hopefully, they will meet again in the postseason.

It looked like on TV that he was clearly pushed with both hands before the shot. The ref couldn't have known the shot was going to go in.

Not really a very physical game either. Corbin shot 4 FT's and Pineville 9 if I remember correctly. The only real complaint I think either team would have on the officiating would be that Strange gets away with a lot of offensive fouls with his off arm before going up with his jumpshot, he's a heck of a player though.

 

Refs don't get them off, he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. I heard somebody say once, "play the game that your in, not how it should be." If they are letting them put the hands on you, then you should be able to get them off.

I know Corbin is young, and Crawford was out for awhile, but he is back. But I really don't agree with you using Pineville as an example. Pineville lost a player in the preseason, who I guarantee would had made a huge difference in tonight's game and the season. I understand the point your trying to make but when it comes to real obstacles, don't bring Pineville into it.

Great game to watch. The game was very evenly called but should this game be played and neither team get in the bonus in either half. second half game got very physical in the paint very good call at the end of the game. You can talk about the shot at the end of the game if you would like but the free throws that Pineville shot (not very many) didnt go in tonight fir the mountain lions.

Strange is definately top ten material. I can see how he may have been over shadowed with Day on his team though. There are also a few pretty good guards in the Region.

 

Seidel on the other hand (who was left off a publication's top ten) was a pretty obvious choice from the get go. How many games do you see Strange covered by a chaser or box-and-one defense? How many times do you see Strange triple teamed?

 

I saw Seidel triple teamed against Scott County and he still scored a game-high in points. This boy is a player...

Corbin is rounding the corner with their improvement and I think Pietrowski will have them ready to make some serious noise in the postseason.

Ummm, Josh Seidel ... who is the second leading scorer in the region ... i believe. He plays at North Laurel.

It was a little more in jest than anything Les. SC has never triple teamed anyone this year. Not even Shelvin Mack, Darius Miller, anybody. If they didnt triple team these D1 players, why would they triple team the Seidel kid?
