I know they triple teamed Seidel, I was there. Probably to keep Seidel from scoring, that would be my guess.

I know Corbin is young, and Crawford was out for awhile, but he is back. But I really don't agree with you using Pineville as an example. Pineville lost a player in the preseason, who I guarantee would had made a huge difference in tonight's game and the season. I understand the point your trying to make but when it comes to real obstacles, don't bring Pineville into it.

You have a very good point. Pineville has had to overcome so much to be as good as they are this season, considering the preseason tragedy.

As for the teams, it is 2 great teams, top 3 in the region IMO. It will be interesting to see how things shake out.

Not really a very physical game either. Corbin shot 4 FT's and Pineville 9 if I remember correctly. The only real complaint I think either team would have on the officiating would be that Strange gets away with a lot of offensive fouls with his off arm before going up with his jumpshot, he's a heck of a player though.[/QUOTE]

In the 13th region, in general referees allow the offensive player to push off a lot with their off arms. So its hard to get too upset with that considering that referees, in general allow it to go on a lot. Strange is a great guard. Hes not the fastest, biggest or most talented kid, but he does know how to play.

Maybe it happened a couple times. It wasnt a strategy of theirs to triple team someone the whole game in a game they win by 25.

Cool man, I'm glad that Coach Hicks let's you on his game plans.

So what you are saying is that before the game Coach Hicks said, we re going to triple team Seidel so that he doesn't kill us? If you really think that, having a conversation with you about this is pointless.

If you watch Scott Co. play halfcourt defense, in most games I have seen them, you see the defense colapse on anyone penetrating. They do a great job helping on defense. So if Siedel penetrated he would probably be surrounded by Scott Co. players, just as anyone else would that penetrates.

Strange is definately top ten material. I can see how he may have been over shadowed with Day on his team though. There are also a few pretty good guards in the Region.

Seidel on the other hand (who was left off a publication's top ten) was a pretty obvious choice from the get go. How many games do you see Strange covered by a chaser or box-and-one defense? How many times do you see Strange triple teamed?

That's an inside joke between me and Les. They both should be in the top 10. You always leave somebody out when you make a top 10 list. I think we had seven or eight guys that were the same on both lists.

Heard a couple Pineville fans say they would not be back at Corbin again to watch a basketball game. I said the same thing about Clay County ten or so years ago, and I have never been back to Manchester. I would like to see these two teams meet for the 13th region title in a few weeks...

Wow! You sure showed those Clay folks...Didn't you. The 13th region is getting tighter every day. I keep adding teams to the list of possible winners.

I wonder if they miss you in Manchester?

I don't think they have noticed yet..........he will miss a good game next week.

A good win for the Hounds!!!Crawford had a bad game, at times you could see him struggle. How about the defensive play by Cashen and Wilson? Every time these kids take the floor they give 110% I was very impressed with the play of Strange and Day from Pineville they played thier hearts out and came up a little short. I think the difference in the game was Corbin's bench. Corbin has so much talent from so many players. Corbin "should" win the region but I am not completely sold on that idea...should make for a very interesting regional tourney!!!!!!

In all the years I have been watching high school basketball I have never seen a "homecourt advantage" like the 1 at Clay County.

Especially in the old gym when Keith was coaching. The "Tiger Den" was about as tough as it gets....but Clay County did have some good teams, so that didn't help the visitor's cause very much either.

That advantage is ancient history my friend. It's re-surfaced on the log mountain grid and the redhound hardwood. If you guys could spare some, we'd sure appreciate having some of it back here in Clay.:D
