36th District Draw

Featured Replies

If the KHSAA wants to really fix things, then get Bellevue and Dayton out of the same district with Highlands/NCC. I don't care how good or bad the district is, why shouldn't the small schools have an opportunity to compete with schools their own size....how about runnin it like football.....classes compete with similar classes

Seed all districts! Get some consistency...

Either all the district across the Commonwealth should be seeded with two teams going to the Region, or all the team across the Commonwealth do a blind draw, where only the winner of the district goes on to the Region. Then and only then do the best advance and move on!

Could the AD at HHS or NCC propose to the KHSAA that all districts should seed? Similar to what the football coaches did to change the first two rounds of the playoffs. If they did propose this do you think they would get enough votes around the state to make seeding permanent?

Seeding is voted on yearly, by each District. It's been discussed as a whole but you see what has happened.

I'm of the opinion, each District does the same thing....Either everyone Seed or no one does.

Understand, but you read about some of the proposals that are brought to the KHSAA that is voted upon each year by all member schools, why couldn't an AD bring this to vote by the member schools of the KHSAA?

I may be wrong but I think this is a topic that was presented to the Board of Control.

Perhaps someone can confirm or refute.

correct about the voting. so I'd say it's like this

vote to seed; Highlands, NewCath

vote to draw; Bellevue, Dayton

Newport well let's see how we look before we vote:laugh:

Watch they'll vote to seed next year;)

Fair? Since when is it fair for a school of 100 boys to play a school of 500 or 700 boys? Yeah it is easy to criticize but if you have classes then this would not be an issue.

:thumb: ...it would take all of the "humor" out of the district draws!

I guess its fair to have one of those teams handed a spot in the regional. Just seed all the districts and this never happens. Forget about classes in basketball.

I believe NCC is also a small school. Since when was it fair to screw NCC or Highlands from making it to region when they are clearly the best to teams in district.

Malaichi why do I have to forget about classes in basketball. That is like me saying you need to forget about everybody seeding. Schools need to do what is best for their school. It is not the job of Dayton or Bellevue to do what is best for Highlands and it is not the job of a Highlands or NCC to do what is best for Dayton and Bellevue. Hence you have the voting. You seem very bitter about this............

The open class Sweet 16 is the cash cow for the KHSAA. Never will they change that. However seeding district play will not effect that. I guess it is best for the 9th region for this to happen? Is that your stance? I honestly can't believe one person thinks this is a good thing. But I guess it takes all kinds.
