Big 10 Legit??

My point was that MAC can play some decent football. I apologize for trying to bring UK in to the thread. I never said UK lost a bunch of games, just that for the most part the MAC teams have come to Commonwealth and played fairly well. But, you may be right, In that one lone victory for the MAC may have clouded my memory. I can still see those OHIO boys celebrating after the win at UK

:thumb: I can understand why!

Enjoy it while you can... Zook is bringing them in quickly, Michigan is about to explode onto the scene, the Bucks always recruit strong and Penn State is going to be very hot soon.

That would be great! I would love to see more match ups with SEC Teams.

UK used to play IU every year, but that fell by the wayside. I think Ohio St and UK makes geographical sense.

With all that I have said, trying to defend the Big 11, I do think that for the past few years the SEC has played better football than any other conference top to bottom. I have always been a huge SEC fan, second only to The Big 11.

I dream of one day, having the opportunity to see football games in Baton Rouge, Knoxville and Tuscaloosa. Just for the experience.

I agree. I have a goal to go to an SEC road game in both football and basketball soon :thumb:

Obtaining a stronger OOC schedule is a start, but historically I don't think that is the major problem. Being more competitive with successful teams outside the Big 10 is at the heart of the matter, and more importantly, teams other than Ohio State and Michigan need to have that success. Teams like Penn State, Purdue, and Illinois need to be be seen by a national viewing audience beating ranked teams. This will get the Big 10 respect. The Big 10 has been on top before. Right now the SEC is. 2-3 years from now... Who knows?

Very good post. Zook is doing well at Illinois. Osu is recruiting well and Michigan is flat out recruiting nothing but speed to go along with the speed they already have. Being a Michigan fan I follow them more than the rest of the schools. Remember this name: Mike Barwis. He is head and shoulders above any strenght and conditioning coach in america. He works soly on core strength and focuses on speed. This guy is an absolute animal. If he can condition WVU's 2 and 3 star players into what they were I can't help but get excited now he has 4 and 5 star players. The Big 10 will be fine.

Notre Dame won't happen, if they were to join any conference in my opinion it would be the Big East where they have had basketball loyalty for years.

2 positions on that. One is that if they stayed with the Big 10, they could still play a lot of teams that have been there rivals for quite a while. The other is that is the Big East is even weaker than the Big 10, especially in basketball, so you would always be a contender. I don't think either would let them join their conference football only. Who do you think the Big 10 should pick up? They have to have 12 teams to have a conference championship game.
