  1. Thanks Ram. By the looks of this, I can see why some expected a PC win.
  2. Can anyone let me in on who Nicholas Co has played and the results? Just curious. Many folks seem shocked about this score.
  3. What is Nicholas Co.'s record? Who have they played? etc.
  4. I see your point and COMPLETELY agree. Believe me, I've been on both ends of games like this. However, at times what can seem like running up the score can not be helped, regardless of how classy a coach is. A lot of times, especially in programs with stronger numbers, the younger guys are still more talented, and get excited about wanting a score. While the coach, IMO, should usually call interior run plays, in these situations JV kids can still score and get excited. When kids start to celebrate the TD that put them up by 40 as much as the first, it can seem like its egotistical. However I think most of the time they're just excited about the player who rarely gets to play score a touchdown, and I think its important as fans to recognize the difference.
  5. In my opinion, these are two coaching staffs/programs with a similar mission; to build a solid football program where one has not traditionally been. The great thing is, both have had some success at doing so, and I think this growing bowl game has been a part of it! Good luck to all involved, but I have to pick the Wildcats. I know the players and Coach Teegarden are hungry for some well deserved respect!
  6. Who/When will Pendleton scrimmage this pre-season?
  7. Any insight on the upcoming freshmen?
  8. I'm also trying to cut back some pounds, and I have found that one big difference maker is absolutely not allowing myself to eat after 8:00 pm. I've been on a pretty strict diet, and a regular workout schedule, but feel like I could use somethign more. I'm just starting to check out the different supplements, and wanted to get some of your opinions. Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Some of the reasons I'll vote for McCain: I respect him. He is a West Point Graduate, Vietnam Veteran and survivor of a POW camp. I feel this also allows him to make experienced, educated tactical decisions on the war, while keeping in mind the horrors of war that our troops are going through. He's been one of the few candidates that will support NAFTA. While many of the Democratic candidates have talked about the side effects of NAFTA, McCain has been a supporter. A significant amount of our oil comes from Canada, and eliminating free trade (of course, if you are a conservative is never a good thing) with Canada will cause the price of gas in America to continue to climb. Again, this is all my opinion (and I am no expert), and maybe these issues don't matter to you, but these are just some of the reasons I encourage you to consider McCain.
  10. And the verdict is...?
  11. Yes, portfolios are not without their benefit, it is this kind of writing which actually is considered by many to be actual effective communication. However, the writing, and rewriting of a few portfolio pieces is ineffective. I would think more practice in effective writing is necessary, and a portfolio that demonstrates progress towards clearer writing and communication would be necessary. Of course, there are legistic problems with this, but I just think that is what is necessary. Accountability is a huge problem with CATS, simply because whatever incentive one school provides(be it exam exemptions, a party, etc), it can not compare to accountability. Does Ohio still require passing the Proficiency Tests to graduate? (may be dating myself on that one, because I doubt they are still under that name) Some consequence like that, I feel are necessary, but it would be a tough transition. Yes, one can be successful without college. I certainly am not making that claim. However, I was simply stating that CATS is hurting some of Kentucky students' chances for success in the college classroom.
  12. Of course there are many other worthy goals. However, in my opinion the single most important goal of any high school is to provide each student with the opportunity to be successful. Under CATS, that opportunity to be successful in the college classroom is being decreased for Kentucky students. Also, for those that do not go on to college, they will still need to be able to communicate with the written word effectively (i.e., email, letters, etc.).
