Being Sick

Featured Replies

Has to be one of the worse things in the world. Started on monday, when I had alot of soreness in my legs. On tuesday it moved to my lower back and side. I did some hard labor on Sunday, and thought that may be why I was hurting. Got up on wednesday and felt very fatigued, went to work, and by midday had to go home. Aching cough with chest pain, and just felt beat down. I just assumed I had the flu, but couldn't see Dr. until this morning. They did chest X-Rays and all the other normal stuff. I just figured they would give me some antibiotics. (sp) The X-Rays were fine, and I was a little surprised when the Dr. said to me, Antibiotics or any of the other stuff you are taking isn't going to help, you have a virus and it will just have to run it's course. I must point out, that my normal Dr. was booked up, therfore I had to see someone I've never seen in that office.

Is this normal, has anyone else been sick, and gotten this kind of answer from your Dr.?

My neighbor is sick and it sounds like what he has. He went to his doctor yesterday and they put him on antibiotics also. Hope you feel better soon and if you don't, go get a second opinion.

Two weeks, with same thing. I recommend Theraflu Flu for the aches/fever and some decongestant, for the cough.

I ran a vaporizer, with Vicks medicine and helped some. Sleep sitting in chair, or your cough continuously.

Take a sleeping pill and sleep thru it.

Your doctor did the proper thing. If it is a virus, he's absolutely right that it will just have to wear itself out. The problem win many doctors is that they placate their patients by giving them antibiotics when they really can't do anything for them.

Thereaflu kicked whatever I had's butt.

That will change, to congestion. Plenty of tissues and even some lotion, to help with irritation.

They have new tissues with Vicks in the tissue.

Used them....Here's an 'ole remedy, for coughing with Vicks. Rub it in good, on the bottom of your feet, as it helps control coughing.

Can't explain why/how, but it works for me.

I only get sick about once a year if that, so I can't help ya!

Sitting on the couch with it right now. Doctor said to take two Tylonel and prescribed me some cough med, not fun.....

I have cetainly had it before, I call it "the Cruds" :irked:- feel like crap and it just takes time. Good luck and I know how you are feeling.

I usually go with NyQuill at night and "Day care" during the daytime or something like them "Thera Flu" is also pretty good.

Just kick back, take it easy and enjoy the college basketball on Sat. and the Super Bowl on Sunday, hope you feel better. :thumb:
