Wisdom Teeth

Featured Replies

Well... I guess I'm truly the lucky one on here because....I have no wisdom teeth! I was at the dentist a few years back and they were checking to see if I was going to get any in, and they said no. I was thrilled, it totally made my day!

My wisdom tooth on the top left has grown in, but it's not hurting. I also have another one coming in on the top right. They said I needed to get them out, but i've been putting it off. I don't want to.

I had all 4 out on the same day and I was out for about 2 days hard. It all depends on if there impacted, if they are impacted, you are screwed. The oral surgeon basically butchers your mouth to get them out.

If there not impacted from what I have heard it still hurts but isnt too bad.

That is true. Mine were "severely impacted" which basically means it sucked to be me.

Same here. I think I was one of the lucky ones. I got my wisdom teeth removed one afternoon when I was in high school and I was at the football game later that night. Granted, I was swollen and bruised, but the pain was very tolerable.

My college roommate on the other hand had a terrible time when she had hers removed.

I guess everybody reacts differently.

I was pretty much the same as you. Had them taken out in the morning. Went home and sleep for a few hours and was able to attend some high school basketball games that evening without a problem..

I had all 4 taken out the same day, around 11:00 am. I was at work the next day running a jack hammer, heavily medicated I might add. Instead of going to bed, try to sleep in a recliner or at least propped up as high as you can be and still be comfortable. Like any injury, elevation helps with the healing process.

I'm a high school student and I just had my wisdom teeth taken out today. About 30 minutes after the surgery I had the worst pain in the world for 3 straight hours. I had all 4 removed. My whole face hurt. I had a headache. I was bleeding profusely and the pain medication did not help at all. I was drooling on my self due to the gauzes in my mouth and you can't spit because you can get a dry socket from that. You don't want to swallow all of that nasty blood. My face feels like Mike Tyson threw a couple punches at it and I feel like I have strep throat. I feel 100 times better than I did this morning. I was just wondering if any of you all had your wisdom teeth out and thought that its one of the top 5 worst experiences pain wise of your life. I have been hit by a line drive golf ball while on vacation right in the eye socket, broken bones, and had horrible lacerations but none of them match up with what I went through earlier today. Shewee.

This sounds like a job/question for our BGP resident SpinDoc.

I think that he is at the All A State tournament now but I believe that if you sent him a pm that he would be glad to give you some advice. I don't know if he has a PC hookup or laptop with him or not.

I was lucky when I had mine out, no surgery was needed - they were out to where they could be pulled, there was more pain with them compared to a regular tooth extraction but nothing to compare to the pain that you and others have described from surgery. Good Luck.:thumb:

I had mine done last year and I am a baby when it comes to pain. When I woke up I had no idea it was done. When I got home my wife gave me a pain pill and a sleeping pill and I slept for about 6 hour's. After that I was fine and ate some soup or drank some soup and the next day I was out and about. I was really surpised that I came thru it so good. Good luck. JD

I had my wisdom teeth taken out when I was in my mid 20's and had been married a year . My wife stopped at a pharmacy in Ft Thomas on the way home to have my pain prescription filled . Somehow I got out of the car and she found me wandering down SFt Thomas Ave about 2 blocks away from the pharmacy still under the effects of the nitrous oxide that was used to put me under . Three days later my mother phoned and told me that I had called her the day of the procedure and complained that my young bride would not ,well how can I put it , would not help soothe my pain . Don't remember anything from that conversation and of course my mother would bring it up at the most inopportune times in the years to come.:D

I had the same thing and it was 72 hours of pure hell.

:lol: In the words of STRIKE3..............Oh My!!!

That may be too much information.

Three of mine came out without much trouble. One slid out easy as pie. The 4th one was bad. Severely impacted and pointing in the wrong direction. I made the bad decision to let him work on me with just novacaine. Bad bad decision. I never want to hear those kind of noises coming from my head again.

I had two impacted, the bottom two. Surprisingly the Dr. said that the impacted teeth came out really easy, and the two that were already out were the ones he had trouble with. My face is swollen and have any of you all seen the very end of the movie Dodge Ball? At the very end of the credits it shows Ben Stiller with all that fat; well just imagine his face and thats what my face looks like. The pain is finally gone though. :dancingpa

I cant even express how painful this operation was for me. One moment I feeling jelly-like in the doctors chair from the special gas they gave me..and then I wake up with my mouth packed with cotton and experiencing the seconds most severe pain Ive ever felt.

Somewhere, Stalone is suffering this very morning. Get well soon.
