Those guys on the Rockcastle county football team are out there with one goal in mind. That is a state championship. They are working their butts off every single day believing that they can win it all. I would like to believe they can too. :thumb:

We both think they should strive to win the State Championship, and I think that we both realize that it isn't realistic for this team, this year.

 

I will buy the rebuttal that the first year you guys went to State nobody expected it, but the second season you HAD to be favorites to return by at LEAST most people. When Rockcastle lost 5-6 games with Parsons as QB, nobody expected them to do much the next season, and they didn't but they eventually got to the 2 State games you mentioned.

 

Basically what I am saying is that every player, fan or coach should be striving for a State championship. They just have to be realistic and not make that a burden for the Rockets to carry. Rockcastle had an average season last year but there are schools like Madison Southern and McCreary Central that would be HAPPY with that record. We have grown accustomed to success, and have not learned to carry dissappointment well. I hope we never have anymore dissappointment but I know it will happen.

Rockcastle had a down season last year? 6-6 and from what I understand they were lucky to get that. Coach Larkey and Coach Saylor always had the kids prepared, it isnt their fault they had to start a bunch of young kids, go through injuries, and have a slow team with no backups. With the schedule played I would say after watching them about 8 times last year, 6-6 was a winning season. I am sure some teams like Madison southern would like to have that. Back to winning state, I think the kids goal should be win state, if not why even play then if yor goal isnt the most it can be. Do college teams play in hope of reaching a bowl or being competitive. There should be pressure to win also on kids and coaches. This years team should be very good and to go 6-6 would be a let down because almost everyone is back from last years team and last years team when they lost was close and was close to being an 8-2 season. So yes, this years team should win and win often, if not I will be shocked. Halfback 20 is right, they should have the goal to win state. Every team should have that goal. By the way how has spring ball been so far, are there any practices left or did they get all of them in?

The Rock has a couple of new kids, one looks to be nice size, could be a receiver, the other one is huge, but unknown quality, but works hard and is strong/ I did see some of their practice the otherday and Cole Abney Has put on 20 plus pounds and is very strong, he was abusing some people on the practice field, looks alot like his older brother only bigger and stronger but with the same drive and determination, very focused.

 

I saw Cole lifting weights, he looks a lot like his older brother. His older brother was one of the strongest players to ever come through Rockcastle.

Parsons senior year Rockcastle did not lose 5-6 games. That was my freshman year, and I believe we only lost 2-3 games. I can't remember the whole season but I remember getting stomped by Highlands 41-13 or something like that. Highlands was awesome that year.

 

Rockcastle made the state championship the 2 years after Parsons graduated.

Parsons senior year was 13-2. Lost to HHS in the semis 41-9. His overall record as a starting QB was 29-10.

 

10th: 6-5

11th: 10-3

12th 13-2

 

That was the best KY high school football team ever in some minds, from Highlands.

Has anyone seen the Rockets lately and what does the new offense look like? From what I hear they will be one of the best conditioned Rocket teams in a long time and that is saying alot.
