Sounds like except for Bell no one should even show up to play against Rockcastle in 08--even if Larkey leaves. Before you go counting on a win in week 1 against Pulaski Co. "just because of who they are" you might want to take into account that Pulaski returns a bunch of starters off of a team that finished 10-2 with their only 2 losses coming to Lincoln Co. They were a Junior/Sophmore dominated team last season and should be even better this season. Pretty bold to predict 10-0 when you're not even sure who the coach will be and with Pulaski, Lincoln, Bell, Knox and Mercer on the schedule.

Why don't you want either Chris or Dackery to get the job? I figure they will go to Harlan With their dad but Chris especially should be o k if he should decide to apply for the job. I just hope Rockcastle gets a coach as dedicated as Coach Larkey has been in the past. I guess we can not blame him for going for the money.

That is right Burkhart did play a key factor in a passing game but if Tanner Perkins comes back right there could be your tall reciever. Also you have Thacker, Hayes , Mize and Smith and none of them are to small but they do carry the power to get the job done in smashmouth football that the ROCK is known for.

 

I would not look for smashmouth football to continue,maybe air raid. Tanner is a great athlete, but after all of the injuries he has had I would not look for him to be back. He has a bright baseball future. JMO

I agree, Scott was a QB and he has to like the passing game. I hope IF he is the one hired, he at least uses the run-and-gun, if he does throw a lot. If we do decide to air-it-out, we have a heck of a QB teaching them.

First thing is to make a solid hire for your head coaching position. I know this is saturday, but if he goes this will be the first big move and I mean BIG.

 

He's gone per very reliable source from their banquet today but nothing was said about who would replace him. Coach Saylor is staying which will be a big plus in Rockcastle's favor. I see this as a big plus for Harlan County and hope that all Harlan Countians will support this Coach.

I don't mean to be a smart pants but don't count your chickens before they hatch. The ROCK football team takes their games week by week they are no such things as sure wins but as a ROCK fan and a supporter of them we take it a step at a time.

I wonder how crappy Les Scalf feels for drawing that famous picture of Larkey and Saylor now? I still think it is historic (for Rockcastle) but it looks weird to walk into Roses One Stop in Brodhead, and see that picture hanging up.

I would say he dont feel crappy, since it was a great picture of two people who brought a lot of tradition to Rockcastle football. Why dont you ask Coach Saylor how crappy it is?

I said this in another thread, but I will say it again in this one. Rock football will not be the same without Coach Larkey. I learned alot from you coach and I am a big fan of yours!!

Has anyone heard anything about who the Rockcastle assistants will be? Does Scott Parkey have control of who he wants or does the school make that decision?
