No, really the sarcasm comes from someone who has a lot of experince coaching over the years, and knows that no matter what any varsity coach does, there are unhappy people in the ranks. Those people tend to take their gripes behind coach's backs because they don't want to face the truth. I mean here we have a team, that is the ONLY team in Ludlow history, from what I've read on here, that beat Covcath (who happened to be 27-5 and the odds on favorite to win the region) and 4 years later, there are people complaining about how it was done? That's the nature of the beast today, it's always someone else's fault. Teams could be better, if only Coach A would have played me at SS rather than 2b, because I was a knothole all star at SS. That's just how things go these days. And Beigs will do things his way no doubt, and he does them the right way. And if people don't like it, he's not going to care. And if you really think that what people post on an internet message board, is important enough to "step on toes", well I'll just let that speak for itself. The important thing in this thread is that Ludlow got themselves a fine, fine coach who will do things the right way, and he will do what is best for the Ludlow program, not how someone feels about a coach that slighted him or her several years ago.

 

You might want to get you facts straight next time, before you say some stuff like this. First off I know first hand what I am talking about. Secondly I have been saying this stuff from the very beginning, and I could go into GREAT DETAIL if you would like me to about this. I have choosen not to do that though. If you know much about the situation at all, like MANY people do then you would know what I am talking about with the stuff I have said.

 

Now with that I definitely don't like your last comment. Because I would NOT come on here and say stuff like this if it was just because I got slighted or something like that. I mean I also would have things to say about my own things, however all the things I would be able to describe has nothing to do with me being slighted. Because I would not bring something personal like that on here to talk about. So you might want to understand that next time before you say that. I mean I have shared my opinion about this on here and just given your all a little bit of what I am talking about. I have left out some other things, because I do like them and there actually has been an apology to about how things were done...Also I am not taking it behind anyone's back, because I have let me feelings be known before, and I do know the truth even though you say people don't want to face the truth.

 

However now after all the there is something that I DEFINITELY agree with you on, and that is that Ludlow did get themselves a GREAT coach and I believe he will do what is best for the program like you said. :thumb:

It has been my honor to know Biegs for many years. Biegs and I go back a long way. He and I have played many a softball game together and have spent thousands of hours talking ball. You can count on one hand the number of coaches in NoKy who have his passion for the game as well as ability to teach it. Without knowing much about the talent pool at Ludlow, I'd like to add my two cents to anyone from Ludlow. Keep your ears and eyes open, you can learn a lot of baseball from Biegs.

He is a great coach and I am sure if you watch some of the games you will get to see just how animated a coach that he is!

Watched the Ludlow baseball team have a little scrimmage session this weekend and was very impressed with the new coach. He is very enthusiastic and from what I saw the kids really seem to respond to him. Funny how good coaches seem to keep the kids attention.

:thumb:Good coaches just seem to have a way of doing that. Much the same way that their girls Basketball and Volleyball programs have been successful. Kids respond favorably to good coaching and it breeds respect. Once respect is lost then a coach isn't able to regain it.

Sure hope all goes well for the Panthers this year under Coach Bieger as from all reports no one works harder then he. Ludlow has always had a very competitive baseball program and deserved a quality coach like Coach Bieger.

Given the amount of time it took to finally hire Coach Bieger down at Ludlow I have to believe he has down a very admirable job. Hopefully he stays around and is able to build the program the way everyone knows he has the ability to do. Quality coach from everything I am told. Good luck to the Panthers the rest of the year.

In addition to the traditional baseball coaching duties, I would agree that things like fundraising, field maintenance, and motivation are certainly part of coaching high school baseball.

 

However, I think having to explain baseball things to the parents like why a player is or is not playing just isn't part of the job. It's human nature for parents and players to second guess their coaches. Feel free to do that amongst yourselves. But when mom and dad constantly belittle the coach, it will eventually affect the player listening to this. And they may bring this attitude back to the rest of the team.
