I sense some sarcasm from you here. However Chilly who coached first base did play a big part in the win because he had a very good motivational tool for us in B-Dubs! And now for you sarcasm, you really might want to know the situation before you use sarcasm. Because a decision the assistant Mike Clary made before the game, that had to do with who started played a HUGE part in the win for Ludlow. If it wasn't for that Ludlow probably doesn't win that game. Coach Highfield though made some good decisions though on when to bunt, and did so at the perfect times. Everyone played their parts in that win, just some more than others...As I have said many of times though, that Ludlow team should still have been ten times better than what it was, but that is another story.

 

That was just a great win in Ludlow History, and its a shame that if you go into the school or the gym, that no one could see it recognized ANYWHERE. Because Ludlow has done NOTHING to recognize that win and what the players did for the school and the program. :madman:

As for your team being the best I admire your loyalty to your team and that's as it should be but to be perfectly honest that team would be lucky to even have a starter on a couple of the Ludlow teams of the 60s and 70s. No disrespect just stating what I believe to be true.

Not only a good coach and great guy. He will be able to get the field in the best condition of any field in N. KY. Congrats Coach and good luck my friend. JD

Bob Bieger is an outstanding baseball coach and mentor. I would love to get into his head and hear some of the stories he has to tell from high school games, Red's games, etc.

 

I wish him the best of luck on the river and am incredibly happy that he got back into coaching. Is he teaching at Ludlow as well?

Yeah I know, I mean which makes it very hard sometimes to say stuff on here. Because even though I might not agree with some of the stuff at Ludlow, I do like the people there. However this is a spot where people can share their opinions, and so that is what I do. As me and you have spoken before, I just want nothing but the best for Ludlow at everything...

 

Now as for the team, I guess we will just have different opinions on it. I sure those teams were great as well. I will say this though that group for Ludlow that graduated in 2004 was actually probably better as freshman, and sophomores than they ended up being when they graduated and well I will leave it at that. My point being that team was very talented, and even though we ended up showing that talent by how we beat the top 10 team in the State in CovCath. We still was not nearly as good as we should have been my junior and senior years. Defensively and offensively that team as sophomores were a lot more discilplined on both the offense and defensive sides. As I said before there is a lot of stuff that I can go into to discuss about this, and I did before about 3 years ago when I first joined here. However I not going to get into all of that completely again, because I do like them and apology's have actually been said. However it still rubs me the wrong way a little bit still as you see, and that is why I talk about some of it still. The main thing I still mad about though is the lack of recognition the school had for it. :mad:

 

I tell you what though, it would be fun if both the teams in 2004 and back in the 60's and 70 could have played. It would have been exciting, because it would be a great game!:thumb:

Um I don't know if he is coaching or not. What subject does he teach? However usually who ever is coaching baseball, usually does get a teaching job at Ludlow. So I would assume he is, but I don't know for sure.

 

Also everything I have heard about the man has been great. I know I would love to talk to him, and hear some of the things he knows. This was a great hire by Ludlow!

FC your team in 04 was very good, but as HJ has said they weren't even close to being the best to ever come out of Ludlow. Having played back in the 70's, I can tell there were better teams in that era than your team from 04. You have every right to your opinion and the right to be proud of being a part of the 04 team, but you can't say your team was better than teams that you never saw play. I can say it because I did see both.

And I respect you opinion, but yours just like mine is an opinion...As I said that 2004 class, was already a good class from what they accomplished, but should have been even ten times better than what they were. Reasons for that I am not going to discuss anymore. So I do understand what you mean by that, and trust me I understand that. Especially if you did watch us or junior and senior seasons. However I know we were ten times better than what we ended up being those seasons. As I said before I believe we were actually overall better baseball players our freshman and sophomore years, and for reasons I wont explain we got a little worst the next two years even though we still accomplished something that usually hardly ever happens at Ludlow..

No, really the sarcasm comes from someone who has a lot of experince coaching over the years, and knows that no matter what any varsity coach does, there are unhappy people in the ranks. Those people tend to take their gripes behind coach's backs because they don't want to face the truth. I mean here we have a team, that is the ONLY team in Ludlow history, from what I've read on here, that beat Covcath (who happened to be 27-5 and the odds on favorite to win the region) and 4 years later, there are people complaining about how it was done? That's the nature of the beast today, it's always someone else's fault. Teams could be better, if only Coach A would have played me at SS rather than 2b, because I was a knothole all star at SS. That's just how things go these days. And Beigs will do things his way no doubt, and he does them the right way. And if people don't like it, he's not going to care. And if you really think that what people post on an internet message board, is important enough to "step on toes", well I'll just let that speak for itself. The important thing in this thread is that Ludlow got themselves a fine, fine coach who will do things the right way, and he will do what is best for the Ludlow program, not how someone feels about a coach that slighted him or her several years ago.

Not sure I understand or even care to understand some of your comments in this post but I will definitely agree with you that Ludlow got themselves a very fine baseball coach and I wish him all the success in the world down at Ludlow..:thumb:

It has been my honor to know Biegs for many years. Biegs and I go back a long way. He and I have played many a softball game together and have spent thousands of hours talking ball. You can count on one hand the number of coaches in NoKy who have his passion for the game as well as ability to teach it. Without knowing much about the talent pool at Ludlow, I'd like to add my two cents to anyone from Ludlow. Keep your ears and eyes open, you can learn a lot of baseball from Biegs.
