As I watched I had 1 observation, Woodson was under a huge rush most of the time he was in, espically in the first half. Ainge was fortunate in not being as heavily rushed generally. Not in anyway making excuses for Woodson but did anyone else observe this?

Maybe he was under a huge rush because he has never seemed to be able to avoid one...

You're so right. He's the worst quarterback in the Bowl Championship Series. I only wish that maybe with many, many years of practice that he'll be half of the quarterback that Ben Mauk is. Perhaps with all those years of work he'll be worthy of being his backup. And maybe, just maybe he'll be able to get drafted as high as Mauk will.

Woodson has never shown a good feel for the pocket, and has trouble avoiding a decent pass rush. I would hope you are up enough on the posts on this site for numerous UK games that fans had a legit gripe about pressure causing Woodson trouble.

 

He's slow in the pocket. He has a slow delivery. He has trouble with a 3 step drop from under center.

Your quotes make it seem as if he isn't even worthy of being drafted. It was earlier reported from NFL Scouts that Martz's system did not fit any of the South's Quarterbacks. It was also said that none of the quarterbacks, particularly Woodson, had his best qualities highlighted by Martz's system. I don't think that Woodson is a top 10 pick but he does have maybe the best arm in the draft and he really isn't that slow. Will he ever develop a pocket presence? I'm not sure but trying to change his whole style in a week isn't the way to see if he can get it done.

I've never said he is a bust. I've simply pointed out why I think he will have problems in the transition to NFL QB. Woodson has problems with the basic skill set to make it as a NFL QB. No more, no less....

I can buy that but he's way ahead of where a lot of people thought that he'd be a couple of years ago. And he may have the best arm of any of the quarterbacks in this draft. How that will translate to a pro career I'm not sure.

Same Olines were rotated in throughout the game. From my vantage point I thought he held the ball way too long in some situations, and did not know when to step up in the pocket. Instead, he tried to scramble outside, which resulted in the sacks.

I keep hearing the word "project" associated with Woodson. And that was before the Senior Bowl. Now, I think he's probably going to get drafted, but I think it may be much later than some on here think.

 

Martz's system has nothing to do with being able to get back from center in a 3,5, or 7 step drop. It also has nothing to do with being able to complete a "gimmie" 3 step pattern. I don't care how strong an arm he has, he won't be able to show it if he can't get back from center and complete some of the easy underneath throws. I think the Martz thing is a crutch. These are things that ANY NFL team will need him to do.

Look, I know this is Kentucky, and the "Cats" are king but jeez.... When I think of a 1st or 2nd round QB, the word project doesn't readily come to mind. I won't speak in absolutes because heck, Klingler found a way to get drafted in the 1st round. IF Woodson does get drafted in the first two rounds it would be a huge reach IMO. How many guys get drafted in those spots that you know won't be able to contribute for at least 2-3 years?

 

My personal belief is that Woodson doesn't have the skill set of an NFL QB. Period.

Based on my early review of the quarterback prospects for the 2008 player draft, I would dare to say today that none of these senior signal-callers have even a remote chance of starting and/or impacting their respective teams in their first season of professional ball.

Based on a three-game exposure, I really like the arm, throwing accuracy, poise, and decision-making of the University of Delaware's Joe Flacco.

 

Matt Ryan almost single-handedly led Boston College to a bowl victory over Michigan State, despite having few weapons and little in the way of speed on the offensive side of the football.

 

Chad Henne, a four-year regular from the University of Michigan, has an extremely strong throwing arm but played much of the 2007 season less then 100 percent physically.

 

Brian Brohm is a bright, experienced individual, but in my opinion is very much a "system" quarterback with questionable mobility and durability. His ability to make all of the necessary throws has yet to be determined.

 

Andre Woodson has broken numerous SEC and University of Kentucky passing records, but I still question his overall processing skills (quick decision-making) and believe he will need a great deal of work with his throwing mechanics.

 

Speaking of passing records, Hawaii's Colt Brennan holds most modern NCAA throwing marks and showed what he was made of in the Sugar Bowl loss to Georgia, but his arm strenght is questionable

Wesley Woodard stock in the nfl draft raised in this game and Woodson's was hurt by his performance. Hopefully he can do go on the wonderlick and the combine.

Yes you can mark it down, 3 months ago, all the "experts" are calling him a top 5 pick, now they "experts" are saying he needs work, either way he's not falling out of the draft, "period."
