I believe it is alot easier to play when there is no expectations, when failure is expected not unforgiven

Since when is life suppose to be hard on a 15-16 year old, thats left up to us old people.

Well life is not hard on a 16 year old, however they look at it that way, and honestly I highly doubt that any players are going to read my post and then when they lose a game think, "Man, we really let GCGUARD down, I don't think I can live with my self anymore", I mean come on we are just , as Springsteen#1 put it, a bunch of old people, and in my opinion, we are a bunch of old people who would kill to be those 15-16 year olds.

There are alot of sophmores coming up to be great players for Greenup. Greenup is going to be the team to beat for the next 3 years. Greenslate, Staten, Reed, Rice, Hardin, James are going to play a great role in the 08 season. Hardin and James coming up from JV last year have improved great from the fall.

Greenslate is going to be a nice player down the road. He made the all-tourney team because he started the game against Fleming on the hill and threw a shutout. Fleming was not very good. That being said Greenslate is talented, so are alot of other sophomores in the region.

 

Greenslate had 14 k's in 7 shutout innings against fleming co. Also if you remember the championship game against ashland he came in and pitched two innings striking out 5. Not to bad for a freshman in regional tournament play. Fleming and Ashland had to beat somebody to get there!!! He also was the starter in the deciding game of the semi-state 7 championship against north laurel and was very successful for 5 innings. Just some food for thought. Greenslate is part of the "SUPER SOPHMORES" along with Staten, Reed, Rice, James, Hardin, Swayne, Robinson, and a few more.:thumb:

Im not saying these teams wont be a threat to the 16th but in my opinion Greenup will repeat this year and the next 3 years because of the sophmores coming up.

Greenup County will start the season as the team to beat. They return a talented group lead by Heineman, Logan, Craft, and Stringfellow. I think are a step above every body else right now. I think there are several other teams that will compete for a spot in the regional championship. They are; Ashland, Raceland, Boyd County, and East Carter.

On the contrary, I will venture to say that although on paper GCHS is loaded, the rest of the region will not go away without a fight. It ought to be a very entertaining year for all area teams.

Yes, Greenslate will probably the best sophomore pitcher in the region, as long as he performs to his top potential. I have followed him since his days in Little League and he has continually progressed as a pitcher and as an all-around player. I also have heard about the "Super Sophomores" group, AKA the SS, however the only players that were included in it were Staten, Reed, and Greenslate, not saying the other sophomores aren't good players just the same. That group was just formed by those three because they are all really close, and they were on the Varsity team last year.

I know Boyd is a good team, they always are, however, they lost a lot to Graduation, sorry but i highly doubt that they will be able to beat Greenup as EASILY as they have in the past. Granted Boyd was a better team then Greenup last year but baseball is a crazy game so anything can happen.

I agree with Martin and Barker as Region's top players, but I think GC and Raceland or East Carter will be the Championship game, with Logan getting Coach of the Year.

Boyd might have a good freshman class but i dont think its good enough to over come the sophmores; such as Greenslate, Reed, Staten, Rice, Hardin, and James. You also got the sophmore pitching Greenslate and Hardin. I think theres two more members to the SS this year; Hardin and James

ABSOLUTELY NOT..... I think Greg Logan is an unreal coach, I have followed him from the time he started the Yankees and I have a close relationship with him. What statement meant was that Boyd was simply more talented, Boyd was not just simply better, (I think Greenup proved that). This was simply about last year not this upcoming year, just making that clear.
