Each school gets a set allotment, and lottery them off if there is going to be this much demand.

 

Otherwise, take lemons and make lemonade. If there are that many Mason fans concerned about being left out, have local cable access set up a video feed of the game to the Fieldhouse and charge folks a couple of bucks to come watch.

Here is a new idea........Let the kid's decide. Take a poll of all teams in the 10th. I would bet that they pick to have it at Mason Co.

 

Keep in mind it is their memories of their road to state.

How large is the proposed GRC complex going to be? Is the Fieldhouse ALWAYS sold out for the Regional tourney?

 

I guess we are really lucky in the 16th. MSU's arena seats 7,500 and I can only remember one ... maybe two.... regional games with near capacity. That and the fact that it is neutral sure makes us spoiled in that sense.

 

No, rarely have they had to turn people away. Most all of the crowds that they have had at the Fieldhouse could have been accomodated at Montgomery Co. Last year's final between Mason & GRC had a crowd of around 3500 including passes, which is less than Montgomery's capacity.

Untrue. To quote Fred Hester, Mason County (in charge of keeping these counts), there were 4,004 at the Fieldhouse during the finals. That's most likely not counting those unpaid, which includes -- as people may sometimes forget -- two sections for each team's band.

I hadn't read that. I was told, by someone from Mason Co. coincidentally, that there were approximately 3000 paid and 500 passes. If 4004 is correct, then I stand corrected.

I orginally posted the 3000 number by memory but I was wrong. The next day, I asked the tournament manager and he told me the 4000 number and approximately 700 passes, including all schools in the region. I believe wvery school gets like 40. Sorry for the bad information!!!!!!!

I'm not part of the 10th region, but if I were, I'd be embarrassed by all of this crap.

:fire:Every one does not get to go to the hospitality room. This room is for coaches, school officials, police, fire & emts, in other words important people. Important to have a lot of food,Mason county sure puts out a real fine spread every night. Nothing cheap there.:

 

this was the KY Prep Classic....Montgomery Co. supplied the gym...thats it. Everything else was the responsibility of Ira Combs and his group.

 

Ask the teams in the Gateway Holiday Classic and see how Mont co runs a tourney.

I don't know, maybe it's because im on the outside (of the 10th region) looking in, some of these posts are unbelievable!

 

Never been to Montgomery Co's new gym but I hear it is very nice, 4,200 + isn't a bad size for a regional. At least give it a few years to decide if it's too small.

What I am trying to get at is, "as former athlete" the feelings you get when you go to a historical venue is remarkable. Thats something you can't replace.
