It is a very different approach to a monster movie and if you see it you will know what I am talking about. Instead of focusing on the monster and its origins and all that stuff, it focuses on a group of people and what they do to survive and how it affects them. It's a different approach to a monster movie and that is what I think made it so good.

Appopriate for a 11 year old boy?

I would say so as long as he isnt a real youthfull kid. I saw some kids around 13 in the theater. As long as he isn't terrified by monsters, or a godzilla type thing, he will be fine.

Saw it today and was fairly impressed. I knew going in what to expect and to quote something George Lucas said back in the early 80's.

"Special effects are just a tool, if you don't have a great story with it, the other stuff doesn't matter."

How many movies have we seen in the last few years where everything is destroyed and you can't help but get numb to it and get that ho hum feeling.

This film works because it's not about what's being blown up, it's just that everything seems to be falling apart, but you don't really see it. The other thing I was curious about was how they were going to get the characters across without shoving down our throat their situations, they did a fairly decent job.

There are obvious eye rolling moments when it comes to the script, but you can let that slide with everything going on. The movie isn't the end all, be all, but considering the total crap that Hollywood has been churning out in recent years, I'm happy with this.

The only thing I kinda laughed at and wondered if they would say anything was the length of the battery on the camera. Early on in Blair Witch, the characters make a comment about having A LOT of batteries and that explains why the camera always kept going. I kept waiting to hear that "excuse" during this film and they didn't feel the need to do that.

Still a really, really, really good movie. :thumb:

I haven't read any of the above posts, but if there are spoilers then I would say the title should be changed for people who have not seen the movie yet. And for people that have posted spoilers, respect should be shown for those who have yet to see the movie and a new thread for the movie, that included spoilers, should have been made.

My 15 year old daughter just saw it and she told me she had a headache and her stomach was sick, but she liked it other than that. Being a girl she liked the love story part the most and was not impressed with the monster. Just about what you would expect from a 15 year old girl!!!

Maybe those who haven't seen the movie should know not to open this thread. If I haven't seen a movie I know better than to open a thread concerning the movie.

I posted in white like the following I don't want to spoil it for everyone so I did this so not be be a spoiler that way you have to high lite it with your mouse so you can see what I posted...or not if you don't want to see...that way I am not the bad guy....pretty cool uhhhh?

I saw it tonight. VERY VERY good movie!

Spoiler(sort of) in white

The monster on here looked totally different than that in the movie. I really did not like the ending though, and I did not see the thing coming out the sky and I even looked.

^ I thought the ending was very fitting. The military official warned them what was going to happen.

Maybe people who haven't seen this movie still have a right to view the thread. It's like reading a critics review about the movie. they don't just up and post spoilers about a movie. I mean we still have the right to read opinions about it without having to have the movie ruined for us! :thumb:

Start a new thread and put spoiler in it, it's a pretty simple concept.

We don't need another thread.

You are taking the chance of reading spoilers by opening this thread. So if you read them, it's your fault.
