LONDON (Reuters) - Bad news for Coco and Blinko -- children don't like clowns and even older kids are scared of them.

The news that will no doubt have clowns shedding tears was revealed in a poll of youngsters by researchers from the University of Sheffield who were examining how to improve the decor of hospital children's wards.

 

The study, reported in the Nursing Standard magazine, found all the 250 patients aged between four and 16 they quizzed disliked the use of clowns, with even the older ones finding them scary.

Clowns aren't my least favorite entertainer. That spot is reserved for mimes, which I guess are just mutant clowns.

A friend of mine; basically a grown man, (Well age wise that is. He hasn't grown since the 9th grade) is deathly afraid of clowns. Pretty much the funniest thing I've ever seen was when we went to the haunted trail thing in the middle of nowhere Ohio, and they had a clown house. He was absolutely petrified. I was almost on the ground laughing.

My grandaughter was afraid of clowns but now she is 10 and does'nt like them but doesn't run from them.

I've hated clowns since I first saw "Poltergeist." Then "It" came along and sealed the deal for me.

Any time I see a clown, I give them the 1 finger salute....That goes for anyone dressed up on the side of the road waving

I have a really good friend that is definitely scared to deaht of clowns. One time at the Erlanger Lions Carnival I had a clown come up and give balloons and trinkets to the kids. Well I took this clown over to where this guy was working and you thought I had a gun aimed at him. Oh well I still laughed about it afterwards and we went on with the fun. JD

There is a scary Clown that lives in Titletown...
