No they do a good job on penetration and do a solid job on defense.

 

What they needed to do was somehow find a way to get Schmerge more shots.

In my opinion Cov Cath should play without a true big man in their lineup. Aaron Noll has been ineffective all season, and Isler is not cutting it either. They are a much better team with Shover, Roll, Maile, Grimes, and Schmerge on the floor. I know those 5 cant play every minute of every game, but should be playing as much as possible when districts and regionals roll around. Schmerge is about 6'6'' which is nearly as tall as Noll, is much more physical, and can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court. And once Bondick is back I do not think he will try to do too much with all of the expectations because he is a smart player and understands what needs to be done to win.

 

Free advice to a youngster:

 

1. Remember that these are your brothers. No need to hammer them on a public board.

 

2. Schmerge is about 6'4.

 

3. Noll was very active last night and blocked a few shots and got some boards. Isler does exactly what this team needs. Be strong inside and hammer people coming to the hole. Remember, on a team not everyone has to be "the man."

When they play again, It won't be much of a game. Holmes had an off night and CCH didn't show me much. I'm not saying they are a bad team, just not as good as teams in the past 3 years. (In my eye's):creepy:

Noll's height is basically useless because he is on the ground half the time and doesnt know how to use it when he is on 2 feet. I have seen him several times this year get blocked by kids heads shorter than him because he doesnt know how to use his body down in the post. Yea hell tip a few shots and get a couple rebounds but really is not intimidating whatsoever in the middle.

that is the complete truth. Sounds like some one is getting a little hypocritical about their thoughts. I believe Bondick is a much more essential piece to the CovCath lineup then duran was for Holmes last year. thats why I believe he will make a much larger impact when he returns

If Maile was hurt, the Coach Listerman should not have played him. Now is the time to get your team healthy, not worry about winning a game in January. CCH will get back on track when everyones health gets better.

 

Actually this game had allot riding on it. The winner is the #1 seed in the district. That is nice knowing you get to play the #4 team.

You are right about it being an important game, however it was not a do or die situation. Depending on the injury, injured players are more likely to be a liability than an asset. It is a long season.

First off I'm not a Holmes fan and I know I wasn't crying about them last year. I hope Holmes does great this year, but only for 1 reason. Secondly I said CCH should get a chance to prove that things will be different w/ their pg back. Holmes will probably play for the district title and I believe that they have a good chance at being in the regional final. So CCH should get a chance to show how much he means to the team. This was the 1st time I've seen either team play this year so I'm not ready to crown anyone, but I did see Holems miss uncontested shots from 3 feet or closer.

 

Side note: Did Austin Hill miss the regular season game against CCH last year?

One more thread on the subject. I am a Holmes fan, graduated in 81. I coach 7th & 8th grade boy's basketball @ St. Augustine which is a feeder to Holy Cross. Most of all, just a sports fan. My son and I go to many football, basketball & baseball games in No. Ky., not just Holmes. Love that No. Ky. is very well known for their great teams and able to compete with the Lou. & Lex. teams.

I don't think we were crying wait until DJ came back because we didn't know if he would be the same when he came back. If I was personally doing any crying, it was because of all the crap that was going on outside of the court. The other night Holmes did not play well at all, I have seen Holmes alot this year and that was not the team I have been seeing. I've also seen Boone Co., Holy Cross, Scott, etc... The only one that might have a chance would be BC. I can't say Highlands because I haven't been there to see them. Maile didn't look very well, but I didn't know he was hurt until these threads. If they are healthy at the end of the year, maybe CCH will be stronger. If anyone saw the Dawgs for the first time against CCH, did not get a good game to judge.

I believe that he was the only regular starter for Holmes that played in that game, due to the suspensions from the Lex Cath tournament.

Latch the 7 & 8th grade feeders schools to HC has some really nice talent!:thumb: The three top teams in the league are: HC, St Anthony, and St. Augustine. I don't know if Prince of Peace is a feeder, but they have 2 Pouncy boys that are good.
