Since Oldguy was real tired from working all day, do you think he might've fallen alseep before the game was over and missed the final? That's probably what it was. :lol:

 

 

After working a 15 hour day and having to be back at work at 4am today, I went to bed when the game went into overtime. The boss thinks that being too tired to work the next day, due to listening to a basketball game, isn't a good reason for being tired....and if you knew The Boss, you would know that after 37 years of being married to her, I listen very well indeed.:lol:

Surprised that no one is mentiong, that Maile basically played with one leg last night and Mark and The J-man were surprised that he even played at all. So CovCath lost in overtime to Holmes on their court in OT with Bondick out, Grimes still not at 100% and Maile (from what I heard) playing on one leg... When everybody is healthy, then look for better results from the Colonels.

If so, I thought Holmes moving Arrez off of Grimes to the one ball handler created problems for CCH.

Henderson forced CCH to begin their offense way out on the floor, and once the game got tight CCH had problems.

From afar I thought Cov Cath didn't look real strong in the halfcourt. They didn't seem to get a whole lot out of their sets. Schmerge needed to get more shots.

How many turnovers did CCH have for the game? 15+ including some down the stretch when Holmes made their run.

Holmes just flat missed too many shots right at the basket. Point blank layups, and a few of them were uncontested. I think that is what made the game closer than it should have been.

I thought Holmes bench outplayed the CCH bench.

Noll and the one other big kid for CCH were fairly ineffective and didn't play particularly well. Holmes forced them to handle the ball some and make decisions with it.

Ricardo Johnson played a real nice game.

We'll see b/c they'll get at least one more shot at them. It wasn't the D though that was causing missed open layups.

One more question: Did anyone else think on the foul that was called a the end of regulation that goaltending should have also been called which would have given CCH a chance to win it at the line?

 

I did not see it, but the guy I was at the game with thought goaltending should have been called. BTW, he is from Ohio and has no interest in CCH or Holmes.

Bottom line is CCH allowed way to many offensive rebounds in the fourth quarter that were put back up for two.

If Maile was hurt, the Coach Listerman should not have played him. Now is the time to get your team healthy, not worry about winning a game in January. CCH will get back on track when everyones health gets better.

When a kid steals a ball, rolls to basket uncontested and blows layup, gets it back and misses again, that is not defense. That is concentration and not finishing. There were far more than just the above example.

I'm begining to feel sorry for Chris Bondick and the pressure he will be under when he returns.If Highlands can beat Boone without Simpson, why are the excuses that Bondick makes that much diffference?He is a good player but all of this convoluted logic would have him 100% on each night.

I'm sure they pride themselves on "D", but Holmes blew uncontested easy ones last night. If Cov Cath fans want to say we didn't have our point guard, Maile played hurt, and our "D" will be just as good next time they'll have at least 1 more chance to prove it. I think Holmes will find a way to play for the District and Regional title, but we shall see.

I wasn't at the EC game so I can only speculate. However, last night it was nothing to do with any defense.

When they play again, It won't be much of a game. Holmes had an off night and CCH didn't show me much. I'm not saying they are a bad team, just not as good as teams in the past 3 years. (In my eye's):creepy:

In my opinion Cov Cath should play without a true big man in their lineup. Aaron Noll has been ineffective all season, and Isler is not cutting it either. They are a much better team with Shover, Roll, Maile, Grimes, and Schmerge on the floor. I know those 5 cant play every minute of every game, but should be playing as much as possible when districts and regionals roll around. Schmerge is about 6'6'' which is nearly as tall as Noll, is much more physical, and can shoot the ball from anywhere on the court. And once Bondick is back I do not think he will try to do too much with all of the expectations because he is a smart player and understands what needs to be done to win.
