Mustang Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Scott wins a 37th District seeding battle over Brossart 66-59 in Taylor Mill. Scott played well, hit big shots when they needed them, connected on their free-throws down the stretch. Brossart led early 12-6, fell behind 28-20 at the two minute mark in the first half and trailed 32-25 at intermission. Stortz and Rieger were limited by foul trouble throughout, both fouled out early in fourth quarter. Brossart forwards production tonight was 13 points, while the guard corps put up 46. Scott hit on 22 of 32 from the free-throw line, Brossart went 16-23. Scott will play Campbell County next Friday night, NOT Tuesday as I stated on the broadcast to sort of finalize the 37th District seeding. IF Campbell County beats Scott (not a sure thing), then Campbell will play the winner of SG/Calvary, while Brossart will get a rematch with Scott. If Scott can pull the upset, Scott would be the district top seed (due to a win over Campbell head to head) and Brossart would face the Camels in the opposite bracket. Nick Hiller led the Eagles with 15 (possibly 16) and Nikola Gligorevic added 14 for the Eagles. Drew Kremer played his most complete game of the season tonight in leading the Mustangs with 16 points, Jordan Armstrong turned in a complete game with 15, adn Mitch Patterson played well and contributed 12. Scott improves to 5-8 as Brossart falls to 8-7. Scott's JVs run out to a 26-10 lead and then survive 33-30.
Miller Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Guess all the predictions were wrong by all of the basketball experts on this site. Coach Carr and the Eagles gave great effort tonight and will be a factor in the district.
Lucky Charms Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 That's a tough district seeding loss for the Mustangs tonight. Hopefully they can continue to rebuild for the upcoming All A Tounament.

striker Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Hopefully this loss helps prepare the Mustangs for a possible rematch in Alexandria.

Yea--Not a good week for the prediction thread on this one, as most picked BB in a close one; but I'd consider this a mild upset at best. Boone over CovCath and NCC getting run out of the gym in Newport were far bigger upsets in NKY last night IMO?? Good win for Coach Carr and the Eagles. Looks like some good balanced scoring forthe home team--Good luck vs. Campbell!!
bigblueinsanity Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 Hopefully this loss helps prepare the Mustangs for a possible rematch in Alexandria. I agree. I look for BB to win the next meeting.

Congrats to the eagles and Coach Carr i believe this is their first victory against Brossart since joining the 10th and the 37th. Brossart just had no answer for Nikola down low tonight. Now eagles suprise everyone again and beat Campbell, and it will pretty much ensure a trip to regionals.
SirMixAlot Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 I agree. I look for BB to win the next meeting. Im not so sure, but thats why they play the game.
ROYHOBBS Posted January 12, 2008 Posted January 12, 2008 :ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper::ylsuper: Congrats to the Eagles. Great win. Congrats to soph Daniel oconner leading the Eagles in rebounding :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: :ylsuper:

SirMixAlot Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I guess we will find out in March! How they are 3-0 in district call me crazy but they seem to be a factor in their district.

Yes, Scott is 3-0 in their district, but to be a TRUE factor in your district, you must at least advance to the district finals. IMO: Scott would have to beat CC at CC to guarantee a spot in the regional tourny and that isn't going to happen. Scott will more than likely play Brossart again in the district semi-finals. Let's wait till March to see what happens.
