January 8, 200818 yr How does Todd Stoddylmeyer get a vote, and Jose Rijo doesn't? I'm sure you also noticed that Shawon Dunston and Chuck Knoblauch each got one vote. I enjoyed watching both players, but c'mon. Although that would make an interesting HOF induction ceremony, I wonder if they would have Chuck try and make a simple throw to first base again just for old times sake.
January 8, 200818 yr Gossage was a feared and productive closer, in his days. Threw hard and worked quickly. Very deserving.

January 8, 200818 yr Feared big time. He was for many years the most intimidating closer on the mound. Well-deserved election.I could never decide, who was more intimidating to watch pitch....Gossage or Hrabosky. Hopefully, Rice will make it next year.
January 8, 200818 yr Gossage is very deserving, congratulations to him. Maybe someday Rice and The Hawk will get in also. Two of the most feared and productive sluggers of their day.
January 8, 200818 yr Here's an interesting stat from the article - 52 of Gossage's saves were made while recording 7 outs or more. You just don't see that on a regular basis these days.

January 8, 200818 yr I understand Gossage getting in, but what about Lee Smith? The all-time saves leader? When's he getting the call?Honestly, I would have thought he would be elected. Makes one wonder, on the criteria and how difficult it is, for a closer to get elected.
