2008 Whitley County

Im not sure who will be playing, but Coach Blacks problem will be where to put all the talent.

I think they will be the most talented team in their district. That is why I predict Whitley to win the district.

McCumbers was a decent passer, but wont be missed at all.

Kind of being tough on the kid, who ever replaces him will have big shoes to fill. Jim Black asks alot of his QBs and they will have to be able to get the ball down field because everyone knows how Black like to throw the ball around.

The qustion is this will they have any "Farrari" running backs to support the passing game?

How long will it until Whitley builds their new stadium with the jumbletron?

Plenty of "Ferraris" and "Corvettes" and may have a few "F-150s"

I would be guessing about 2-3 years, that is going to cost alot of money..LOL

"Plenty"????????

Who could they be.........with Powers on his way to Williamsburg, and Jones playing baseball.

Powers is a County born and raised. Jones plays Baseball every year is darn good at it. Whitley has a parking garage full of fast cars.

Okay but do they have anyone who can catch the ball besides Rider? Seriously if they throw it around like Black has in the past, then they better find somebody else to catch it besides him. And the line is a whole other discussion, can they protect the new QB????? Didn't they lost their only experienced player along the line and he was average at best he was the big tackle wasn't he?

I think it will be a matter of what car Coach Black decides to drive. Lot of choices in the garage. Protection is not a problem. Only one of those trucks were traded.

From what you are saying, it sounds like the Colonels may be getting a transfer from the Air Force to the Army....moving the ball on the ground instead of the Air.

Come ST5 you have some info.....give it up!!!! The rest of us would like to know.

Because..........

If everything you are hearing out of the rumor mill is true then you can draw some conclusions:

1. Jim Black is planning something surprising to his fans and opponents.

2. His team is going to be better than expected.

3. He likes the air of the unkown around the team right now becuase you are not hearing anything from Colonel Stadium.

4. At this rate it may be the first week of the season before you have names and postions.

5. Jim Black is a pretty shrewd coach who is playing pretty close to the vest.

6. The problems of the past have been removed or just moved.

Just going by observations from last year, what was lost and what was gained. The Colonels will return the skill players that account for the majority of the Offense. The O Line lost only one player to graduation. Defensively the Colonels only lost one, maybe two players, but both replaceable. I dont really know what Coach Black is planning, but there are alot of weapons the other teams will need to defend. Hence alot of "cars in the garage". Or maybe I just dont know a thing about what I saw last year?

Bobby Gibbs will be the OC in 2008. He played at Wofford College and WC will be running their offense this year (Option). WC does not have the QB to throw the ball in a system like Coach Black had at W-Burg. WC does have a bunch of quality backs that will fit into the Wofford system very well. Good Luck Colonels!

So Whitley is going back to a running attack. Is this primarily wishbone sets. The kids that I talked to have been talking a lot about the wishbone, with Ryder playing QB. I know it is tuff to keep changing offenses. The wishbone stuff should be pretty simple though. I hope it works for them.

Plenty of powerful, fast cars! What about Lebanion? Looking at the Newspaper, it looks like Powers is still a Colonel.
