2008 Whitley County

I thought the Colonels were about to turn the corner at the end of the year but the loss of Lebanion disrupted their progress. Their kids will all be a year older and I expect them to improve dramatically. They have lots of speed people and will be able to attack on both sides of the ball.

O the memories...

Do you remember the Black on Black on Black?

Yes, He was at Pulaski Co a few years back assisting on offense for 3 years when Pulaski was rolling. He coached UK tight end Tyler Sexton his jr & sr year when Pulaski was putting up 48 pts per contest. At East Jessamine he was Defensive Coordinator for 2 years and also Head Coach on JV. He also Coached Middle school basketball at Pulaski co and East Jessamine. If you are a Whitley co fan I believe you have alot to look forward to the next couple of years with the Coaching and Talant that is in place.

Coach Russell is a great guy!

Why yes I do. I can remeber the lights bouncing off those helmets. Do you think that all that black will have the same mojo... I do.

I believe the Colonels will just be better this year because of they are a year older, and basically lost no one. But a little Black Magic wont hurt!

Everyone else will be a year older too, so I am not convinced, but one more year under Jim Black will probably do the trick.

You are right, but the Colonels really do not have to replace anyone. I would venture to say that most teams on their schedule will have some key positions to replace.:dancingpa

I have always thought that this upcoming group of seniors has a very high talent level. I don't know why, but it seems like they have had some bad luck since they have been in high school. I think Jim will get things done if he is given the time, and he is probably the most talented team in the district. That is why I believe they will have a succesful year, and win the district. One thing that is a given, the kids will be well prepared.

What is the latest from the Colonel Nation, everything seems to be static.

Is Lebanion with the team and lifting or is he with the basketball team in open gym or with the track team? He is very talanted in all three.

It is the baseball tournament held at Whitley County, I did not know he was playing baseball, has he played in the past?

I was talking about the track meet at Whitley, a number of local teams, I believe it is a invitational. It was held on Friday.

I thought that Ed Lawson was at Williamsburg now?

What passing camps will the Colonels be attending, anything close? I would love to see how the Air Black offense is coming along in year three. It will be interesting to see who replaces McCumbers at QB and how he fits into the Jim Black offensive (passing) scheme.
