December 29, 200718 yr I feel ya man. I've hurt no body part more than the ankles over the years. In high school one summer I didnt know it but I fractured my ankle in a baseball tourney sliding late into a peg base and didnt know it. That was the first game of the day and I played 2 more that day and then did about a week of double sessions in football when I got back before I finally went to the doc because our football trainer said it was just a pulled muscle. Ive sprained both numerous times, last one being about a year ago playing ball at NKU. That sucker hurt like hell and looked kinda like yours 98 but I dont think my bruising was as bad. I have loose tendons in that ankle an the only way to fix that up is surgery. Until then its not going to be hard to sprain that ankle since they are so loose. P.S. - I'd rather break my ankle than sprain it, it hurts a lot less.
December 29, 200718 yr Well since everyone is showing their sports injuries, I thought I would show some old ones. Nice!:eek:
December 29, 200718 yr Thanks LRCW, I just threw up... I did also. Can a mod please remove those pictures? I will not be back in this thread.:scared:
December 30, 200718 yr What type of knee surgery did you have? You sound like my son...he is all the time getting hurt, about your age, 28. He has knee surgery coming up and will have a scare similar to yours. Where and who did your surgery? Keep us updated on the ankel. The painful kind. Actually, I ruptured my patella tendon and simultaneously tore it completely away from the knee cap. When the tendon tore, I heard the snap and my knee cap literally displaced itself 3 or 4 inches up my leg (according to witnesses:D) The surgeon actually said "it is about as bad as it gets" in regards to knee injuries. When it first happened (before I realized my knee cap had taken up new residence), I told my doctor that I thought it was an ACL and he said I would have been lucky if it were. During surgery, they drilled a hole in my knee cap and inserted a screw to which they attached the tendon. They also inserted wires to wrap around my knee cap and down to something I can't remember right now in order to stabilize it. Apparently, there are also staples and other gadgets in there to hold it together temporarily while it heals. According to my doctor, the wires and some of the other stuff will be taken out later. Other items such as the screw will remain in place. It's been almost six weeks since the surgery, and I have had a leg immobilizer on since the surgery. Next week I go back to the doctor for my 2nd review since the surgery and hopefully will get a brace that will allow for a little bend in my knee. I have six more weeks on crutches according to the doc and an undetermined number of months of rehab after that which according to the doctor will be painful. He actually said that. I would have preferred the standard "You'll feel some discomfort" but instead got "It's gonna hurt a whole lot". The surgery was performed at Ephraim McDowell Regional in Danville by Dr. White. He has a a great rep in this area. Who still operates on knees like that? That was the kind of scar I wanted from my ACL from a few years ago, instead, I've got like 4 little 1/2" scars and one 2" scar It's very rare to incur the type of scar I did these days with all the advances in technology but if you read the comments above you'll see why it was necessary.:thumb:
January 4, 200818 yr Author My foot is still purple from mid-calf to my toes. The swelling is down most of the way, but it's still a lot bigger than my right foot. I saw my orthopaedist and got an MRI. Torn ligaments on the left side of my ankle and some other stretched on the right side. I have to do 3 weeks of therapy and I go back on the 24th to discuss surgery. I'm not looking forward to it.
