What Should the Patriots do?

Featured Replies

The Moss/Brady thread brings up another point in this game...What should the Patriots do? If you're Bill Belichick...well, ok, if you're the Patriots Head Coach do go for this win 100%? Would you have sat players last week and/or this week? Does 18-1 with a Super Bowl mean as much to you as 19-0? What would you do?

You go for every win 100%. You play the best you have available for as long as it takes to make sure you won the game.

I say you pound the Giants into oblivion, take a week off and then win the Super Bowl.

Agreed. :ylsuper:

Play every game to win, they can't go in afraid of getting hurt, if they do that then the chances of getting hurt are higher IMO. But if they have a comfortable lead then I would assume the main guys would be pulled somewhere in the min 3rd or at the start of the 4th.

Don't jeopardize it, I wouldn't even make the trip...

Just because they are going for the record or do you mean EVERY game?

Every game. I don't believe that you go into any game with any intention of less than 100% effort to win the game. Once the game is well in hand, then I say a decision can be made regarding who stays in, and who "rests". You play the best you have until you're sure you've won the game. Period. That's your job.

So, the Giants should play all of their players, too? (wrong thread but...)

Yes. I don't believe in games where you don't give 100%.

There is a line somewhere between resting guys for the playoffs and giving 100%. If resting them gives you a better shot at the Super Bowl then you absolutely do it.

I think the value of that "resting" is subjective. Do you keep the players fresh by not playing them? Sure. But do you take away the "rhythm" of the season by doing so? Possibly. I think it's a fine line. I personally think you play the best regardless, and when the game is in hand, you consider pulling them. I don't believe in not playing your best players and going for a win just because you have playoffs coming. Just my opinion.
