December 28, 200718 yr Oh, and I am fairly sure there are no biblical scholars on BGP.:thumb: Αυτός είναι αυτό που σκέφτεστε!
December 28, 200718 yr Why do you find it sad, Run? There are thousands upon thousands of religions plus atheism and agnosticism? Do you find it sad that there is literally hundreds of millions of people in the world who have a religion other than your own? Likewise, do you pray for them?Yes, I do. As I said, it's not an attack on you or anyone, it really isn't, so please don't feel as if I'm making fun of you or making light of anyones belief. It's my job as a Christian to pray for you and for all those who haven't seen the light of Christ or don't yet believe.

December 28, 200718 yr Why is your job not to love him unconditionally?Where did I say I didn't? What evil did I speak of him? How is it that praying for someone is a bad thing?
December 28, 200718 yr Where did I say I didn't? What evil did I speak of him? How is it that praying for someone is a bad thing? You did not speak evil of him at all, I did not mean to imply that - Often, probably mostly from me, but my prayers are not followed by loving actions. I guess I was really "preaching to myself" in that post and should not have lumped you in there.

It's my job as a Christian to pray for you and for all those who haven't seen the light of Christ or don't yet believe. Believe me - I don't feel as though you are making fun of me. I have been in your shoes before to. I was a faithful member of CG's "flock" once before and I used to debate your side of things until I later realized that I had absolutely no logic on my side and had to continually turn to "It takes faith!", and "God is not to be questioned." As I got older and went through highschool and college, I let my mind open to other possibilities and realized the lunacy in my prior beliefs. Don't take that as an attack either.
December 28, 200718 yr Author ي سان سنفرت مي تت تو. Arabic for - I can use a converter too. ....or something like that.
December 29, 200718 yr Personally, I don't know who placed the moniker of "all merciful God". And for those who choose to argue that the bible is not the "truth", and that there is no truth,,,,my question would be,,,,,is that true? I won't add my 2cents any further than this. If one chooses to follow Christ or not, if the bible is the truth and what we all will be judged by, it clearly says "every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord". I prefer to do it this side of Heaven.

And for those who choose to argue that the bible is not the "truth", and that there is no truth,,,,my question would be,,,,,is that true? There is no way to know. That's the thing. I choose not to believe that a God could be as vengeful and neglectful as the one in the Christian Bible...and as I have stated repeatedly...if God is as described - I want no part in worshiping him.
December 29, 200718 yr Arabic for - I can use a converter too. ....or something like that. Is that what you were trying to say? Here's some advice. Don't use translating software for Arabic. Most of them suck. They're not so great for Greek either. The problem with Arabic is the syntax is goofy when compared to English. Not only is Arabic written from right to left, but the wording is different, and passive verbs don't translate well. You also need to be careful with adjectives and adverbs, they don't go where you think they would. I think what you were trying to say was: أنا يستطيع شغلت مترجمة. Or "I can also operate a translator." Personally, I prefer what I learned at DLI FLC Presidio-Monterey.

December 30, 200718 yr The main evidence in the passage that would suggest Josephus did not write (or atleast had his writings tampered with) is that Josephus, a Jew who converted to Christianity, would have never called Jesus "The Christ" or "The Truth" Let me understand this. You lament the fact that there are no historical documents other than the Bible to show that Jesus Christ existed and when given one you GIVE A REASON WHY THE DOCUMENTS WOULD BE LIMITED, because the Jews and Romans, who would be controlling the written history, are not going to admit that they were wrong. Good point you make in the argument that Christ existed and lack of historical documents is irrelevant to the argument. None of the historians would have done what you are asking why they weren't done. Good point, you make in our case. Thanks.:thumb:
December 30, 200718 yr Most of the Gospels are not considered by scholars to be eyewitness accounts. They are oral traditions. Q is probably the closest to an actual eyewitness account, and much of Matthew and Luke have come from Mark/Q. Here is one that may get people in an uproar - What if Jesus never had a physical resurrection? How does that really change anything. His life was an example of a life to point you toward God and he was obedient even unto death. Whether he was physically or spritually resurrected has no bearing on my faith other than to know that at some point I too, in some form, will be reunited and creation will be made whole. Didn't he sit down after his resurrection and have a meal with people? That would seem to indicate a physical resurrection, unless you feel spirits eat.
