jimmyref
Some thoughts regarding the Tiger banquet tonight. From a football standpoint, the Senior class went 41-5 officially in their games. During their four years at St X, 3 district championships, 3 regional titles, 2 undefeated regular seasons, 3 state title game appearences, 1 State title, 1 new stadium. Winning record against every Kentucky opponent. Defeated 3 2007 state champions. Playoff record during the four years 14-3. Seniors Head to head- Manual 7-0 (1 OT), Butler 5-0, Lexington Catholic 5-0, Highlands 1-0, Fern Creek 2-0, Male 3-2, Trinity 3-2( 1 OT), Desales 1-0, Central 1-0, PRP 2-0, Marshall County 1-0, Meade County 1-0, Covington Catholic 1-0, Bowling Green 1-0. Some facts that Dr. Sengalli ( President of St X) gave about the team academically- 18 National Honor Society members Football team scores 3% better than the entire student enrollment at St X. 37% of the Football team has improved and is getting better grades than they were getting freshmen year. The remaining (and large part) is getting the same and a small percentage is slightly off. All team members are on schedule to finish with enough college prep courses to graduate. 39% of the team are taking at least 1 honors or AP level course. He also reminded them that this long season has postponed college applications and offered to help them catch up. I truly believe that's why St X has produced the most Division 1 athletes in the last 5-10 years in Kentucky. It's not always that X has better athletes. Coach Glaser and the entire administration stays after them to get them applied, lining up appointments with the potential coaches and accepted into the schools after the last horn of the season. Coach G even got after them tonight to stay in shape for their 10 year reunion and not get a "belly" so they become better husbands and fathers. That's why Nick Heuser's closing speech rang so true that Mike Glaser is so much more than a football coach, he is a minister, counselor, teacher, role model, and advisor to the Saint X players. While some may lay claim to being a better coach, not many can match him in preparing his players for the big game of life after their senior year and elgibility has expired. Thank you Coach G for everything you do, on and off the field. To Nick, Nate, Chad, Connor, Ben, Aaron, Chad and Kevin and the rest of the seniors- thanks for the memories! It is not about anyone else. This is about the good things at St X. Like going 33-2 as a football program this year. Add in the undefeated soccer team. Good start for the stadium.
