I haven't read through all of this but I'm confused. I see free healthcare administered on a daily basis at an alarming rate. Sometimes, when my child is hurt or sick I'm waiting for people that get their kids a free checkup from a hospital like it's a PCP.

Cincinnati even had a tax levy that paid for the health care of indigents in Hamilton County through University and Children's Hospitals. Unfortunately, it also paid for the healthcare of anyone in Hamilton County Jail.

I think we'd have a lot of shocked people if I posted our 'payer mix' on here...

The bill was about providing free health care to children. Can anyone truly say that they are against free health care for children who have none.

 

I am against free health INSURANCE for children who have none. I do not beleive I am splitting hairs by saying that. The system between docs and insurance companies is broken and inequitable, and this is not even a bad-aid.

One of the biggest problems in this country is that we rail about not having what should be basic things (health insurance) while not giving up what are really luxuries to get our income to the level in which we can then afford those basic things.

 

We don't want to give up our lifestyle so instead we want the government to provide for us so we don't have to sacrifice.

What can people living at 150% of the poverty level possible give up to be able to afford health care?

 

Do the research for me please on what it cost for a family of four? And how does someone make 18,000.00 per year afford that.

The people at those levels I can understand the argument.

 

Those at much higher levels of income and no health insurance I cannot.

I feel there are a number of other places to go for assistance. I just hate to see so many people dependant on government funding. In some cases it appears that those who benefit feel they are owed the funding. I think if the assistance came from local agencies (such as churches and other private agencies) that those receiving benefits might feel more compelled to work themselves out of their current situation.

With the current government assistance programs, their is little incentive to try to get out of their current situation.

Si senor, I can. The family plan (my family consists of 2 adults & 3 children) costs nearly $200 per month. this plan is only pays for 2 cleanings per year & roughly 50% of major dental procedures.

 

My household income is over $100,000 per year. With a mortgage, student loans, car payments, car insurance, household bills, 3 children under 7, groceries, electric, etc. I cannot afford another $200 per month.

 

So, how do people making much less than myself expect to pay for doctors bills or dentists etc.

Those are for need based students. I personally prefer my tax dollars being spent on defense over social programs. BTW, I do not make financial descisions for you, and its none of my buisness until you start telling me that my tax dollars should pay for someone's insurance. However, it would seem that a household income of over 100k should be able to afford dental if the resources are distributed in a proper manner. I have dental taken out of my check, and I make much less than 100k. Of course, I keep a small mortgage on a house I can afford and my vehicle is paid off. I am also a drive it till it dies kind of guy, and I only buy Toyota's.

I drive a 08 Honda Civic, and I love my foriegn car. I would never think of buying that junk from detroit.

Wow! Why not do the most American thing that you can as a consumer, and buy the best product at the lowest price. It is called capitalism. BTW, Bush and Cheney were not made rich by war. Social programs should be for Canada and France.

Or the Detroit company who closed the plant in Norwood and shipped the jobs to Mexico?
