December 10, 200718 yr Thought this could add to the recent discussion on here about shootings and the people being armed. A trained female security guard ended up killing the shooter and it was said that by her being there and armed, she said many lives. http://www.kxmb.com/News/188436.asp An armed security guard who killed a gunman at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Sunday is being credited with saving many lives. http://www.denverpost.com/money/ci_7679696 I again feel that you let teachers receive detailed training to carry weapons and you might see a decrease in these school shootings. I am talking intense training that would be a 12 to 18 month program before they are allowed to carry the weapons.
December 10, 200718 yr What a tragedy, you don't ever hear of these shooting taking place in areas where armed people are present. Never hear of any kind of mass shootings at hunting camps or sporting goods stores. Huh wonder why?

December 10, 200718 yr Wished they had gone a few hundred miles east to find a church in Westboro, Kansas instead.
December 10, 200718 yr Wished they had gone a few hundred miles east to find a church in Westboro, Kansas instead. I'm lost here. Can you please explain?
December 10, 200718 yr Fred Phelps church. Thanks, but I still wouldn't wish a deadly shooting on them.

It seems like the overwhelming majority of shooting incidents involve the shooter committing suicide.
December 10, 200718 yr Author I'll disagree. It seems like the overwhelming majority of shooting incidents involve the shooter committing suicide. After numerous people have lost their lives. This shooter happen to go to a location where there was an armed security guard and she prevented him from going to any other part of the church. Same thing that COULD happen if a shooter at a school happens on a part of the school that an armed and properly trained teacher is. At least there is a greater chance of stopping them than there is presently.
December 10, 200718 yr I'll disagree. It seems like the overwhelming majority of shooting incidents involve the shooter committing suicide. Do you think it would be out of the question that some of the carnage could be stopped before the shooter got to the suicide point? I also think that it would be a deterrent to some to even enter with the agenda to take out as many as they could for fear of failure.

I just don't believe it will have any impact on the number of incidents. The fear of death is not a deterrant to most of these shooters.

It may not impact the number of incidents, but it could prevent some loss of life. I argree with lbbc if it has a chance to save lives I am all for it.
