December 5, 200718 yr If they're good enough to play in the NBA, let them. Going to school for one year just takes scholorships away from kids that would stay for 4 years. Also, if a player sustains a career ending injury while being forced to play that one year in college, the NBA is cheating them out of millions of $. If they get hurt their first year in the NBA, they can always go back to school to get an education.
December 5, 200718 yr I can agree with what Vitale said to do regarding the NBA or some agency selecting the group of players eligible to go to the pros. However, I would probably go with two years as opposed to three in how long you have to stay in college.
December 5, 200718 yr It's not as much about the Oden's and Durants IMO. Far too many that had zero chance of getting selected were getting bad advice and throwing it all away...
December 5, 200718 yr They should make it at least two. Injuries that can destroy your career are few and far between now. Technology is great.

It can only help (And go ahead & say it can hurt because they have a chance at getting hurt....So what, they have a chance at getting hurt by walking across the street)
December 6, 200718 yr I think this rule is hurting the college game myself. You have these kids coming in and staying for one year and then leaving. What kinda teammate is that? I think that his rule should done away with. If a high school kid wants to go straight to the NBA then go for it but if nothing pans out its their own fault.

December 6, 200718 yr I dont think its right for someone to tell a kid like OJ Mayo that he HAS to go for a year of college. If a kid can go straight from high school to the pros let him. Who are we to decide what is and what isnt the best choice for him.
December 6, 200718 yr It is generating lot of excitement for the NCAA. O yeah there is something called $$$$ that helps too. People want to watch these kids play. The only thing this is going to do is bring more parity to the college game if there wasn't enough already.

Who are we to decide what is and what isnt the best choice for him. He can go play in Europe. Mayo is one of the few that MIGHT make it. For everyone Mayo their are 100 kids that flop and ruin their career when they could have a college education to fall back on.
December 6, 200718 yr Let's not kid ourselves. The elite prospects are doing alright under the new rules. There is still plenty of cash filtering outside the system...
December 6, 200718 yr Here is the thing. There are a lot of guys who would have tried to go to the NBA who wasn't ready. So they go to college and figure that out and will end up staying more than 1 or 2 years.

Dorell Wright gets decent minutes for the Heat, as does Webster for the Blazers. Both have had a few really good games. Tony Key is originally from Kentucky and when he left Kentucky everything went wrong for him. I see your point, but just pointing some things out.
