I dont want to sound biased so I wont list any kids on our team but I think the list has some names that are legit. McClendon should be on there as well.

Well, I will throw out a few names that you will be hopefully be seeing over the next few years at Highlands and up on the Hill. Dupont (PG), Witte (2G), Turner (3spot) and Christian(4 or 5) have been playing with the NKY Warriors (Rockets last couple years) and they should get better and make some noise at Highlands. Collopy (4) , Bueter (2G) and Devoto (pg) will continue their playing careers up at NCC. Team was put together to be strong from 1- 8 with no real standout player. Any one of them can hurt you on any given night. I would put any of them out there on the floor against the top players in NKy so why not atleast mention them.

 

I like the Nussbaum kid who actually is now with the NKY Flash. He is a future Beechwood kid and is a very good athlete.

One other kid I thought was worth giving some recognition to in the 7th grade in NKY is Justin Saunders (St. Marys, CC Kings). He is going to be a very good player at Brossart in the future.

I watched a little of the Highlands/St. Mary's game at St. Henry and he definitely has improved from last year.

Wow, that was an ugly game on a tiny court. He seems to have stepped up his aggressiveness and has gotten some nice size on him as well. He always was a good shooter. Im sure Code has nice plans for Saunders as well as other kids in the feeder system.

I didn’t ever see the Rockets last year play in N KY so I can't compare them and based on their lack of run in the State tournament I didn't get to see them there either. Bueter and Collopy are the only ones I remember, along with Collinsworth when he played, that were noticeable. Collopy is a man child!

Yea, they got fed up with SOAS and took their game to Evendale/SportsPlus. I think the competition in NKY is a slight bit better but it was more they got tired of playing the same teams year in and year out. Last year's lack of state tourney run had a lot to do with one game where they couldnt stop the kid from Richmond who went off and had 32 pts. Other than that I thought they played very well down there in Div 2. They dont practice much and havent over past couple years. Its more or less just a bunch of kids who are friends getting together after school leagues are over and playing together. State tourney is cool cuz it gives them other teams around the state to play and it gives the parents a chance to "have a good time" if you know what I mean. :thumb:

Collinsworth opted not to play with these kids in AAU last year and this year, he will develop into an excellent athlete as well. He may be the best lockdown defender in NKY when he wants to be, at the 7th grade level.

Also, curious as to how you guys are doing against Cincy Lakers, NKY Tarheels, MBA Warriors and the Cincy Lakers in your league. What is your record with these teams? That should provide stout competition.
