I'd like to know exactly how long he was on the phone with the 911 center. If it took them over 4-5 minutes to respond to the call, then I'm all for Mr. Horn.

From what can gather it was at least that long.

The only thing wrong is..........He waited to long!

He violated the law. He was not threatened and in no danger.

I have to agree. He was safe in his home. They were no threat to him. His personal property was not in danger.

 

However, a big part of me wants to see him get away with it!

How is he right to do this? I'm sure death is not a sentence for burglary.

In Texas you are allowed to use deadly force to protect a neighbors house.

 

I'm all for it, more power to the guy. People should be allowed to just slit the throat of scum like this and let them bleed out as far as I'm concerned.

Not sure that's true. The Castle Doctrine allows that a person has the right to protect his or her own property using deadly force if necessary. I don't think the same extends to a neighbor's house.

I'm pretty sure the Texas Penal Code says a person can use force or deadly force to defend someone else's property if he reasonably believes he has a legal duty to do so or the property owner had requested his protection. Not 100% sure, but reasonably.

 

In Texas, I believe you can act as a de facto protector of a neighbor's property. The legal issue mainly just rests on if he felt threatened, which is not hard to argue as he shot them in the chest not the back.

He fired a total of 3 shots. The first shot was a warning shot saying don't move. One of the two dead suspects charged at the guy with the shotgun, so the guy shot and killed both of the would be burglars.

I guess I missed them saying he had that right in Texas. I thought they said that the new law allowed it in the case of self-defense in his home or workplace.

I really don't care one way or another, but my question would be, if the two perps were apprehended by the police would they be facing a death sentence in court? Or does this guy in fact take the place of police? I have to figure if they would come towards an officer after a warning shot had been, they would expect to be shot. Very interesting scenario.

RTS always has us thinking. Usually about odd stuff though.:thumb:
