WOW!

 

Well there was "nothing special" about Belfry's offense tonight.... J/K

 

I cannot express how proud of this team I am, they continually step up to the plate and hit homeruns. Man alive, I think as I just typed this another Belfry RB scored another TD.

 

Make no bones about it Breathitt is a great team, but tonight they ran into an absolute machine. Belfry exploded for about 6 TD's in the span of 13 minutes (last minute of first half and third quarter), Belfry took a very conservative defensive approach, but when they were called to step up they did so with authority.

 

A few thoughts:

 

BELFRY

 

- Everyone, I would like to present to you CHARLIE DOTSON... a few Belfry posters gave him some ink this week and snag his praise, but my God the kid was amazing tonight! He ran all over the bobcats on offense, continually picked up critical lead blocks, and on defense he was everywhere laying the wood.

 

- Dustin May had a Mr. Football worthy performance. Well over the century mark on the ground, broke probably 20 tackles over the course of the night, caught a TD at the end of the half that really spelled the Breathitt County demise, picked up frst downs when Belfry needed it in short yardage, blocked an extra point, recovered a fumble, recorded numerous tackles for loss and sacks. Belfry is going to be absolutely loaded again next year, but this kid will be missed dearly.

 

- Thomas Varney once again played beyond what your normal Belfry Sophomore does.

 

- Despite the scoreboard, Belfry still didn't play their best football of the season, kicking game was oddly poor, missed assignments in coverage, and a few fumbles... not griping, but just stating that Belfry could be even better than what they showed tonight.

 

- Belfry's youthful O-line was simply outstanding... depsite the individual performance of May and Dotson, the O-line was by far the Pirate MVP.

 

 

BREATHITT

- The Fugates played their hearts out and never quit, I was especially impressed with Colby's accuracy in his mid range passing. Channing Fugate is going to be one special player, he ran over some Belfry defenders that never get ran over.

 

- What little chance Breathitt had went out the door due to fumbles. The one before the end of the first half thats et up the Elkins to May pass was the biggest, but the one in the 3rd Quarter on 3rd and Long when they ran a screenpass was the nail in the coffin.

 

- Breathitt could very well be back at CAM around this time next year, they definately are loaded in the underclassmen ranks.

 

- Bretahitt brought by far the largest visiting crowd to ever come to CAM.. I was very impressed. They were also very loyal as probably 3/4 of them remained til the final horn. HATS OFF TO BREATHITT!

Great game by the Pirates tonight...other than the couple of fumbles.. only had like one penalty on us all night long.. Looking better and better every game... I am more and more impressed every week.. I knew Breathitt couldn't beat us.. none the less at home... The Belfry crowd was AWESOME tonight!! I am so proud... I will see ya'll next week in the Ville... We want our crowd next week to be better than this week... Bring all your noise makers and save your voice ... The Angry Red is coming to town...:banana::banana::laugh::laugh:

Charlie Dotson was a beast out there tonight, he was everywhere. I must say it was very sweet to beat Breathitt Co., and to do so in dominating fashion. This Belfry team must come ready to play next Friday but I believe we will be bringing the hardware home to Pond Creek. With the losses the Belfry family has had this year, how fitting would it be to bring home the title to Pond Creek!

Not trying to thread jack... but I think this is worth posting.

 

Belfry and Louisville Central only have 1 common opponent... Johnson Central.

 

Central played @ JC in week 8... JC won 48-29

JC played @ Belfry in week 11... Belfry won 28-12

Where is that 5wide guy anyway?

 

I misunderstood what he and FBALL were saying, but the O does look pretty good to me.

 

After trading PMs with 5wide this week, I have nothing but respect for him. I have no problem in saying that I'm sure he will be on to comment on the game and he will do it in an admirable way.

 

I think you did misunderstand him earlier, iPapi, he was disagreeing with the guy who said Belfry's O was nothing special. He was being compilmentary in saying they were definitely a step above "nothing special".

5wide is about as good as you can get on this site in terms of his football knowledge, ability to give as unbiased of an analysis as possible, and picking up on small intricacies. I am looking frward to his input on the game, he really represents Breathitt County with class.

I was just ribbing him, I posted on it earlier in the prediction thread that I wasn't sure what he meant, but I had a good idea. I actually agreed with him about our offense being "nothing special" in terms of the "wow factor"...I think that is how I worded the phrase.

 

He and I are actually talk quite a bit on here due to our common love for MMA. 5wide is a great guy and an intelligent member of BGP. Nothing but love for him, especially since I'm a little ecstatic tonight about the Pirates playing in another title game.

 

On that note...."How 'bout those Pirates!"

How about Holcomb's skit he put on in the 4th quarter, I am surprised no one has mentioned it... I thought it was hilarious!!

Not to beat a dead horse here, because I have said it before, but I wish our PA man would tone down the schtick. :mad:

 

A little bit of emotion is fine. But cheerleading and showboating is bush league and out of line, especially when you're winning by 30 points. I was embarrassed by the way he was acting and I thought it was unsportsmanlike.

 

I'm sure there are those who would disagree with me, and I know I am old school, but I think we owe Breathitt an apology.

I kinda agree Watusi, but then again I thought the Breathitt's coach went a little out of his way, and acted foolish to show displeasure in a call, when his team was well out of the game, it was uncalled for in my opinion.

If Central beats PT tonight then we are going to see a match up of two totally different types of offenses. Central runs a wide open offense compared to Belfry's two TE and wishbone formations (I know this is what they traditionally run and what I saw on TV against Somerset).

 

I hope Belfry wins but I will say they will probably will see the best athletes all season next week if it is Central. Their waterboys run 4.3 40's. But they can be beat because they do not have discipline like Belfry does. They will make silly mistakes that I think Belfry will be able to capitalize on.

 

But man Central has some athletes.
