A curious observation.

6A Semi's this weekend. Two very talented teams from the same city make the semi's. However; they don't play each other.

What the KHSAA doesn't have a map. But yes, it is all about the kids. Not the 40,000 who will pay 7 a head next weekend.

 

There are others:

 

St. X and Meade aren't exactly in different parts of the state.

 

Lex Cath and Harrison aren't either.

 

And, as far East KY goes, Breathitt and Belfy aren't exactly from different "regions".

 

Sounds more like a jab at St. X and Trinity to me.

I agree 100% but explain how Beechwood is in the west.

 

 

The are on the EAST side of I-75 (by about 34 inches)

 

I wonder how many teams are East of I-75 and how many are West

This is a great point. For many years, 15 - 20, Male, Manual and St. X were in the same DISTRICT......... These three teams have carried their fair share of "tough" schedules thats for sure.

 

 

As far as would work for everyone else.... Seems Trinity is the only one to take advantage of that situation. Wheres the rest of the State?????

This isn’t unique to the KHSAA, remember when the Reds were in the National League West and St. Louis was in the National League East. Or how about when the NCAA basketball tournament used to put teams in the east, west, south and Midwest brackets, what a joke that was too.

Hey, look at the future playoff scenarios. Trinity could represent the western half of the state next year in the state final. It is subject to change year after year.....

The KHSAA could always redraw it so Jefferson County has schools in all four regions :fire:

 

class 6 A:

 

Manual could be in region 1

 

St. Xavier could be in region 2

 

Male could be in region 3

 

Trinity could be in region 4

Yeah, worked out great last year. :irked:

We could have a boring state final like last year when Ryle was stomped by Trinity. I would rather watch a great game in a great atmosphere.

I understand that but it should go for all classes IMO.

Not every class has the same geography. Class A is heavily skewed to the east ... there's only one district west of Louisville.

 

Personally, I think the Lynn Camp-Williamsburg-Campbellsville district has as much right to be in the west as the northern Kentucky district, but northern Kentuckly has better proximity to the other two districts on the western half of the bracket.

 

Just one more reason to love six classes ... :lol:

Let me see what Coach Saban says about it.

Here's an idea. Let's take the eight largest schools in Louisville for one of the finals slots. The rest of the state can play for the other. Louisville can keep all of the money for their "internal" playoffs. Oh wait we used to do it that way ...... but that means

Louisville will always have a team in the Gridiron Bowl Championship game.
