Centre Rocks didn't show anything on D1 talent this year. He put Dunbar halftime score up but Dunbar is mostly Juniors and has a great chance of being the best team in Lexington next year. Lafayette should not have any D1 players. Gifford and Bunch are good players but not D1 in my opinion. I'm not saying they can't play College football but not like EKU or UK. Henry Clay has Boyd and Gay but I'm not sure what Gay is doing for College. Then Station and Tates Creek are the two worst teams in Lexington this year. Station I know has two D1's this year going to Minnesota so an argument that Bryan Station could do better is understandable one and many say that in Lexington.

I think 5 would be better because when you are counting 10 years ago Lexington Public Schools were beating Trinity and getting to the finals. I personally don't know the count.

Are we comparing this year or all ten years? If we go back to 98 and 99 Lexington Schools were competing with Trinity and St.X. But for this year I would say the Trinity and St. X would be the Lexington Schools pretty easily.

 

I think Trinity right now is as good as they have ever been in school history. In Lexington there is some talent and take Henry Clay for example. They may be next to say Highlands the best public school in the state of Kentucky and are not even close to Trinity.

 

Take this year for example, other then Henry Clay is there any D1 players who are seniors in Lexington at the public schools? I know Station had a couple. Lafayette has some good players but not D1. Dunbar does not have any D1 that I am aware of who are seniors, Tates Creek has Ty Sparks and I'm not sure where he is going.

 

Maybe in Lexington this year you may have 6 or 7 total D1 scholarships. Two for Bryan Station, Boyd at Henry Clay and I will give you Gay at Henry Clay, Lexington Catholic has a 2 or 3.

 

 

Of what I can remember and some guessing. HC-Boyd 4 star-D1, Ryan Philippee-D1 AA, Donte Gay- D1 AA Sam Simpson-D1 offers as junior

 

LC-Winston Guy-3 star-D1, Shane Israel-D1, Andy Mahoney D1 or AA, Sam Plomin D1 or AA, Nick Vicini D1 or AA, Zach Yoko D1 or AA.

 

TC- Ty Sparks- D1 or AA??? and Chris Reily D1AA???

 

BS- Dont know names but I know they got a couple boys going to play some ball at Univ Minnesota.

LexCath beat St X in 2003...I believe by a field goal. Good times....

God forbid we go back to when T actually lost, thats just not fair . BTW i'm taking all of Lex because their are so many athletes (not that their isn't at T or X) just sure numbers because of their is more schools to pull from on the imaginary Lex team.

In my opinion, if Bob Beatty is coaching the X and T squad they win. If Beatty is coaching the Lexington team, they win. I think his game prep is that good.

It's never about the individual talent, but the sum of the parts or the team.

That's a big reason for success at Trinity and St. Xavier. I don't know that the Lexington kids in general are taught that as a whole.

 

The one player that gave Trinity fits was Eric Shelton. When there's another Eric Shelton in Lexington, a running back who outweighs the linebackers trying to stop him, then it would be competitive.

I'm inclined to agree, although I don't think it would be a blowout. You're talking about combining the whole city of Lexington into one team...

 

This is just an opinion, so no one is wrong. I'm inclined to go with X and T because they've been so dominant...however, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the combined talent of Lexington won this hypothetical game.

It is probably senseless to even discuss this topic, but if I could choose the squad and the coach, the Lexington contingent would win this game as badly as Trinity beat up on our poor Lexington teams individually this year.
