Rumblings around Clear Channel

Featured Replies

They would be wise to sell what they can, but they don't seem to want to pull the trigger. And it's not just Cincinnati. They have poorly run clusters in markets all over the country...

I heard from a source today that CC was ready to sell but the deal was falling apart all over the place. You hear anything along those lines GT?

It's happened time and again for over a year. I know of a few companies looking to buy a station or two, but they have some immovable parts that always seem to slam doors before they really get open...

Would Furman go to 6:00 to 9:00?

I know Lance is a little leary of leaving CC. Id much rather have him in the drive slot than Furman.

The book was over 3 months from what I understand, and that the Angries rating would likely be higher, but included time that they were not on.

Big Dog hardly registered.

What team would make 96.5 the flagship? Xavier?

96.5 is too much mish-mash.

I wished they would have nabbed ESPN before CC did. CC prolly only did it to block Cumulus.

Is The FIsh still on the air on Saturday's?

I'm done with local sports talk. I happened to tune in yesterday evening because the Bengals whipped a decent team that has a legit shot at the playoffs, and all I hear is complaining about Chad's TD celebration. The chronic depressive attitude by the onair people has worn thin.

IMO, 70% of the listeners to the sportstalk shows never call in.

96.5 was last in the summer book. The only positive rating was the October trend where Andy handily beat Lance.

I highly doubt Andy would go back to the 6-9 slot.

Big Dog was dropped based on the summer book. Yes he was awful and almost didn't register.

Fish is on still, but has been bumped for Miami games for a while...

..and Mike from Fairfield makes up for the other 30%.

My unofficial opinion would be that number is closer to 95% of listeners never call.

100% of the stupid people call.

I believe you are correct on the 100% stupid, a guy on NFL radio actually called and stated he thought the Saints should move Bush to CB, then he said he would hang up and listen to the reply. You wait 45 minutes to say something as stupid as that???

I heard tonight that they were looking to add Dan Patrick to replace Gregg and Mo...

I have heard Furman thinks he will land back at WLW.

I'm hearing otherwise...

IMO, 70% of the listeners to the sportstalk shows never call in.

Too bad we can't up that rate to 100 percent. I hate caller-driven sports talk radio. Absolutely hate it. I much prefer the ESPN Radio formula (host & crew, high-profile guests, reporters knowledgeable about what they cover) over the endless succession of losers with dumb questions, fanboy attitudes and bad "brilliant" ideas calling from their car phones.

I'm with you there...

There are several downsides to the ESPN Radio formula, however ...

Colin Cowherd, Mike Tirico, Screamin' A. Smith and Eric Kuselias.
