December 7, 200718 yr There are several downsides to the ESPN Radio formula, however ... Colin Cowherd, Mike Tirico, Screamin' A. Smith and Eric Kuselias. Here's part of one big problem I see. I don't think many of them watch a lot of games. I'd love to see a guy like Mick Decourcy get a slot in this city. I think he'd be great with the right partner...
December 7, 200718 yr GT, since you mentioned Patrick replacing Gregg and Mo... What's the general consensus on these two? I guess it's two different perspectives in terms of the business side and the "fan base" side but ultimately, what are the grades on their show. I for one am a big fan and listen to the podcast everyday.

I guess it's two different perspectives in terms of the business side and the "fan base" side but ultimately, what are the grades on their show. I for one am a big fan and listen to the podcast everyday. I know both Gregg and Mo and like the show a lot. It's different from what we are used to here, and because of that they take a lot of heat. Mo is a "radio rat" that has done a lot of work that many in this business have no desire to even think about. I know the feeling because I'm doing a lot of that work right now. Bias aside, I think the show was brutal when it debuted, but has been a lot better as they grew as a team. I'd like to see them keep the slot, but I don't see it the way things have played out recently...
December 7, 200718 yr Author I'm hearing otherwise... Possibly true. My friend who works at Cumulus said that Furman has this idea that he will return one day to the Big One. Far-fetched, but Andy is not really altogether now. I really don't think Furman is that good.

December 7, 200718 yr There are several downsides to the ESPN Radio formula, however ... Colin Cowherd, Mike Tirico, Screamin' A. Smith and Eric Kuselias. Cowherd is awesome, Tirico is VERY good, and Kuselias is my favorite on the station. They have a solid lineup right now, except for Steven A. Smith, who just annoys the crap out of me.
December 7, 200718 yr Every time I turn on the Herd, he's not talking about sports. And he's on a sports radio network. Tony Bruno's in the same time slot on Sporting News Radio, and fortunately Sirius picks up his show. Tirico ... don't get me started on him. Ever read ESPN: The Uncensored History? Should have been sent back to Syracuse. Thankfully, Kuselias is only part-time on the radio side now. Unfortunately, he shows up on NASCAR Now 4 days a week during the season. As for Screamin' A ... Clearly he wants to be the next Ralph Wiley, but he's taken the title of Wiley's book Why Black People Tend To Shout far too seriously. He may be making good points, but HE UNDERMINES HIMSELF BY RAISING HIS VOICE ALL THE TIME! NOBODY IS TRYING TO INTERRUPT HIM, BUT HE STILL ACTS AS THOUGH HE'S TRYING TO BE HEARD IN A CROWDED ROOM! Best thing on the whole network? Mike & Mike In The Morning. Haven't made up my mind about SportsNation yet.
December 7, 200718 yr ..and Mike from Fairfield makes up for the other 30%. Now that's pretty funny! I think Lance is the best thing going on sports talk radio and I think Jim Rome is the worst. What irks me most about Rome is that he repeats himself over and over again. How many ways can he say the same thing?

He's becoming a charachter.
December 7, 200718 yr Lance at one time was great. He's now an shell of a his former self. He's becoming a charachter. Mainly because he relies too much on the phones...
December 13, 200718 yr I don't really like that move at all. I think it should been both of them or none.
December 13, 200718 yr The station would fall apart if they fired Mo. He does a TON of stuff behind the scenes...
