November 21, 200718 yr He's staying, and "he'll never back down from a fight"....right on Coach K, I'm with you. Good for him. However, there are some changes that are needed and are likely to come about. What do you guys think those changes will be? Overhaul of the coaching staff? Players transferring? Did he touch any or hint anything that will change?
November 21, 200718 yr He reiterates that he wants to finish his career here and guarantees that he isn't leaving. He also said working with Rocco everyday is a challenge. Uh oh...
November 21, 200718 yr Good for him. I really have felt bad for this guy. I hope he gets the Cards back on tract next year, but still manages to lose the 1st game of the year.
November 21, 200718 yr I didn't like that he refused to take questions. There were some that needed to be asked on the SMU stuff, just because he's staying doesn't mean it was never in doubt.

November 21, 200718 yr Author LC, he didn't mention any changes that are going to be made specifically but you can bet that there most definitely will be a major coaching staff overhaul and a multiple transfers as well.
November 21, 200718 yr I'm very impressed with the way he spoke and I still stand fully behind him as our coach. Like I've said before, I think next year will be a much better season and this is going to be a very interesting off-season for the Cards. I concur.....5-6 is un-acceptable, and he knows it first hand.....the future will bright, there will be an overhaul with some kids leaving, and others seeing major clock...coaching changes etcetera.....I am excited for the next 12 months of Louisville football.

Glad for the UofL fans. I was hoping he would get this situation over with because it really can hurt recruiting.

Even if the last four end up spectacular, the next eight are going to be ugly. JMO, but unless Stubbs is gone and Brohm or a big name is made offensive coordinator, the natives are going to be restless. These past fews days have shown just how unhappy fans are with Kragthorpe, the USF loss was a watershed on his support.
November 21, 200718 yr Author I was just checking out the inside the ville forums and I couldn't take it for more than 2 minutes. It kills me how completely ignorant fans are when it comes to their favorites teams.
November 21, 200718 yr Thats good to hear! I know I believe he is a really good coach, and I just think UL messed up in making him have to keep some of the assistants from Petrinos old staff. He should have been able to bring in all of his own people...Hey my fellow UK bball fans, you should look at this. It is not as easy as some of you all think in taking over a team and still being successful right away, even if you have a lot of talent left over from the previous coach. This is in reference to the people who give no credit to Tubby for the 98 title since he had Pitino's players. Its not just so easy to take over a team and still do great no matter how much talent you have left over from the previous coach... Back on topic now though, I think UL will have a good year next year once Kragthorpe gets his own coaches in place...
November 21, 200718 yr Author Aside from the coaching staff challenges he faced this year, I don't think Krag ever became comfortable with the system they were using as well. He seemed to be out of his comfort zone the entire year. I think he felt the need to try and use Petrino's system to keep the players comfortable and especially Brohm. I would bet that he has been prepping Hunter all year more towards next season. I would bet that the play calling will be much smoother next year and better for both the players and the coaches. I don't expect Petrinoesque numbers but I do see them winning all of the games that they should with a few others as well.
November 21, 200718 yr So he's leaving at the end of the year? :thumb:You beat me to it, this seems to be a popular comment by a coach planning to leave or knows he is getting kicked out.
November 21, 200718 yr No way he's getting kicked out, and Kragthorpe just wouldn't lie about it. He's just not that guy. If he was maybe out the door, there's no press conference until the day it happens.
