I have assembled the 26 best football-themed movies and in true March Madness style, created a bracket to determine the best football movie of all time.

Myself and three other sports-minded people ranked the movies 1 to 26, with seeds determined by the averages - low to high.

I will post a thread at different intervals throughout the next few weeks and months. Everyone will have the same amount of time to vote before the polls close. The winner advances.

You will not know the list of movies until the first round is over. I'm sure I have forgotten one or two, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Some you won't see are:

Jerry McGuire, which was more about agents than football

  • Black Sunday, more about terrorists than football
  • Air Bud, more about being terrible than football
  • Forrest Gump, MASH, Lucas, Last Boy Scout, etc. all had football in it but wasn't the central plot.

Use whatever criteria you wish in casting the vote. In the spirit of the MVP Award, "Best Football movie" can mean whatever you want it to mean.

Probably the best match-up so far. I give the edge to Brian's Song for sentimentality and it was a great movie to watch as a kid growing up. I think that Remember the Titans was probably a much better quality movie in terms of production and acting...

"Boy, you must be outside your head. We are going to do up-downs, until Blue is no longer thirsty."

Titans wins this one big.

Remember the Titans

"Brian's Song" should win this easily, but too many people lack historical perspective.

Or people have different taste than you...

RTT has plenty of history in it I believe, so who exactly are YOU to wave your finger?

That "history" as you put it is tweaked quite a bit.

Remember the Titans is and always will be, overrated. Real good movie, but not the ultra-classic that many make it.

Care to elaborate?

One of the greatest movies of all time. Remember the Titans

"I LOVE Brian Piccolo."

This poll is not even close and it shouldn't be. RTT is an AWESOME movie. I was not impressed with Brian's song, and yes I know the story of Brian Piccolo, that doesn't make the movie good.
