I agree there will still be first round blowouts, but at least you're getting to play someone different. Like's been said on here before it's not like basketball where you get to play 25 games a year.

I was heading to the Danville game and I heard the score was 48-0, so I just said heck with it and saved my money. I'll try to start watching the "playoffs" next week.

Unless I miss my guess, the first round has nothing to do with the bottom line of the KHSAA so don't even enter that into the discussion. it does effect the bottom line of the KHSAA member schools who get that extra gate, however large or small it is, and it varies from what I am told, in the first round.

 

The game that I attended was Russell against East Carter. The game had very few fans in attendence. No one likes to go and see a blow out.

 

The one thing you can count on is that KHSAA will do what they want, when they want, and how they want. You can complain all you want and it will fall on deaf ears. It's a shame but it is reality.

By the numbers:

 

100 of 192 teams are .500 or worse - 52%

There are 19 games in round with opponents both .500 or less

There are 15 games with both opponents above .500

There are 5 winless teams in the playoffs

There are 6 teams with 1 win only

I was under the false inpression that the gate from all playoff games went to the KHSAA. I knew a portion of it went to the member schools, but I certainly didn't know all of it did.

 

I'd like to know how the playoff gate proceeds are distributed, but I'll post that question in another thread.

Life isn't about a vote. Get over it. Pay attention to coach Schneider's comments. It isn't what coaches or fans want that matters. If you want to lobby, talk to the administrators with $3.33 per gallon diesel fuel this past Friday.

 

If the member schools (or participating schools) get the proceeds, then I would have to see some attendance and travel costs figures before I would say which is better finacially for the schools.

 

If travel cost is higher under the old system, it is possible that attendance is also higher by enough to offset the difference.

Heard many of the the 1st round games attendance was horrific.
