November 3, 200718 yr 1. The Road Warriors-Animal and Hawk-The only Tag Team that has one all 3 Federation Title Belts(AWA,NWA,WWE), The Road Warriors dominated the tag team division where ever they went, not many tag teams can say they have a win over these guys. 2. Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson-Members a group called the 4 Horseman along with J.J. Dillion and Ric Flair they've left their thumb prints in the NWA and Georgia Championship Wrestling, Tully also held the NWA TV Title. 3. Jerry "The King" Lawler and Bill "Superstar" Dundee-These 2 stars from Memphis held many titles both as a team and individually, Lawler and Dundee on numerous occasions have the AWA Southern Tag Team belts on several occasions, both at ine time or another have held the AWA Southern Title,Lawler has always concedered the Southern Title his belt, sometimes they've wrestled against each other for the belt. Lawler to his credit has held other titles like the AWA World Title from Curt Henning, Unifed the AWA and WCCW belts from Kerry VonErich, Dundee has held along with The Tag belts other belts like the CWA Championship, The Mid-America Belts. When these two joined as a tag team they ruled. Lawler tried teaming with other like Austin Idol, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, Jimmy "The Boogie Woogie Man" Valient. Dundde formed other teams with Jeff "Double J" Jarrett, Tommy "Wildfire" Rich. 4. The Rock and Roll Express-Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson- They are another tag team that formed in Memphis, holding the AWA Souhtern Tag Team belts, and held the NWA Tag Titles. 5. Midnight Express-Depending on which combination there were, and there were 3. First it was Dennis Condrey and Randy Rhodes, and Norvell Austin, then they changed partners and it was Condrey with Bobby Eaton, then it was Eaton and Stan Lane, along with then their manager that Tennis Rackett welding momma's boy Jim Cornette, they have success with either combination and raised havoc wherever they went. 4.The Rockers-Shawn Michaels and Marty Jennetty This was a young team that grew into the popular team seen in the AWA, capturing Tag Titles, and the Southern Tag Titles. Won the WWE Tag Titles, then later they split up and Michaels went on to win the WWE Intercontintal Title and the World Title, still wrestles in the WWE, Jennetty hasn't had the success Michaels has had since the break up. 5.The Faboulous Ones-Steve Kearn(Skinner) and Stan Lane-formed in Memphis by Jackie Fargo, have won the AWA Southern Belts, won a match against the Road Warriors, not many teams claim they have a win over them. Grew to be the most popular tag teams around. 6. The Koloffs-Ivan and Nikita-These Russian Wrestlers were feared in the NWA later added Crusher Kruschev(Smash of Demoltion, Repo Man) and caused havoc everywhere they went. 7. The Moondogs- When they came to Memphis they held the Southern Heavyweight belts, and they had the infamous concession stand brawl with Jerry Lawler and Bill Dundee. 8. The Blonde Bombers-Wayne Farris(The HonkyTonk Man) and Larry Lathem(Moondog Spot) were a tag team to be reconned with. 9. Bruiser Brody and Stan "The Lariet" Hansen-the most feared tag team, these guys were justs rough, tough, and crazy. Hansen once held the the AWA Heavyweight Title. And Brody held many other single titles. 10. Bobby Eaton and Greg "The Hammer" Valentine-Eaton in the past has been mostly a tag team wrestler but has held some single titles in the NWA and the AWA, Valentine has held the WWE Intercontintal titlle. Those are my picks for top 10 tag teams in wrestling. Anybody else have any?
November 3, 200718 yr Author Did you forget the Freebirds? No. Lawler and Dundee beat them on tv when they made their debut.
November 3, 200718 yr You forgot about Demolition! With Ax and Smash, then with Smash and Crush. They beasted people during the early 90's! :thumb:
November 3, 200718 yr The Road Warriors were by-far my favorite. I had some foam shoulder pads with the spikes on them.
November 3, 200718 yr With wrestling you have to throw numbers out the window. You have to break their "game" down. I still think the Road Warriors and the Rock and Roll Express are #1 and #2 hands down. Recently you have to throw the Dudley boys and Harlem Heat along with Edge and Christian into the mix. Mixing the old with the new. Those 5 tag teams dominated their era.
November 3, 200718 yr Great thread, all the good ones already listed, here is one I enjoyed even if they weren't dominating. Brutus the Barber Beefcake and Greg the Hammer Valentine.
November 3, 200718 yr Bushwackers were my favorite back in the day, followed by the Road Wariors. I haven't watched except for a quick glance while channel surfing for several years now.
