It is a good thing we don't play Russell next week, because we would run the ball down their throat as well.

 

If West is not in the Super 7 this week, Mark Maynard and the ADI will prove to all of Northeastern KY that they are complete buffoons.

Honest question.

 

What has West done differently since week three to allow you to make that statement? How have they became 38 points better?

No major injuries, no trainers on the field or anything.

 

It was a great game, with a great ending for the Comets.

 

I am all jacked up. Bring on Mason. Look at how they have played the last two weeks. As I have said continuously, West Carter is much better than they get credit for.

 

Good luck to Raceland next week. Fairview deserves to lose after what they did to their head coach before the season. I read about that in the paper. That showed no class.

No matter what happened to the former head coach of Fairview you saying that the kids deserve to lose is pathetic, these kids have worked thier tails off after having thier head coach run off, if anybody deserves to win it is them.:fight:

Congratulations to West Carter! I forgot to add that in my previous post. Many of you have eluded to a Russell hangover. No excuses the West team just outplayed us tonight. No if ands or buts about it.

 

Absolutely correct B.B., we are not into excuses down here. I cannot stand to lose but all we can do is give credit to where it is due and that is West Carter, certainly not a game last week. West deserves the credit, they got it done and the Rams did not, end of story. I agree with you in that the the Russell game had absolutely nothing to do with this game.

I hope the loss last week did not continue over to this week. The Rams need to move on and get ready for Fairview.

Well, the bottom line is this: you cannot just get "mentally" ready to play only on the weeks you're playing a marqee team/rival ! You have to be ready EVERY week; you cannot just play up to your competition level. No disrespect to West Carter. They made the plays & deserved to win, but the Comets practically tried to give this game away & Raceland wouldn't take it.

 

There comes a time when players have to make plays for (4) quarters, not just spot cameos here & there & think it will be enough. The coaches prepare you all week to put you in position to make plays. YOU HAVE TO START MAKING PLAYS...they can't do it for you. I don't care if the opposing jersey says RUSSELL, ASHLAND, or Timbuktu, you still have to want to compete & be mentally ready. If you can't do that then you need to go to the house...period. The last time I checked, football is not a required sport to graduate high school...you play for the love of the game & to compete...& YOU WANT TO WIN.

 

We'll see this week if the Rams can answer the bell...I hope so!

I have had the privilege to work with Coach Kevin Brown for the past 8 years and let me say that he is a class act all the way. A solid Christian man who instills values in his young men. I have also had several occasions to talk with Coach Hoof. Tonight after our pre-game interview, we just stood and talked about life and it was great. I have known Coach Hoof for a long time and he is truly one of the great guys in high school football. Both schools should be very proud of these men. Life is much more important to them than football!!

First off, congratulations to West Carter. They played well and moved the ball well. Good luck in the playoffs.

 

CA you are absolutely correct. The Raceland coaches were telling the Raceland defense what play was coming and they still did not do what the coaching staff said. West Carter is very formation oriented. They tell you what they are going to do by the formation they line up in. I was standing behind the Raceland bench, and the coaching staff was yelling before every play, and telling the defense what play was coming, and I don't think the Raceland coaching staff missed a single play. But, the Raceland defense, even knowing what was coming, could not execute the game plan.

 

Hats off to the Raceland coaching staff, they did their job and was very prepared, like I said they called every play before it was ran, and if they missed one, I did not hear it.

 

I was disappointed by the lack of emotion by Raceland, they came out flat and stayed flat. No emotion, no enthusiasm, no excitement. Very disappointing, even more disappointing then the lose.

:thumb: You are 100% correct. As I stated in a previous post itis gut check time for the Rams. This week of practice needs to become very physical and intense. Ram Pride never quits so I think we see a differnent attitude in this weeks preparation for a very good Fairview football team.

I appreciate the kind words. I do what I do the for the student athletes. The good Lord knows I am never going to get rich broadcasting high school sports, but I get much more out of it than money. I get to meet a lot of great kids and coaches. Too many times we hear about the bad stuff that teens do, I try to let people know that there are some great kids out there who do some tremendous things as well.

 

If I ever degrade a kid in any way, I will quit, because that is not what we are about. I might talk down to an official or two at times, but they know that I am an equal opportunity broadcaster, I applaud them when they are right and I let folks know when I think they blew it. I just see my job to tell people what I see the best way I know how and make sure it's all about the kids!
