Anyway, I agree that the 'Birds really must have played like champions in the fourth quarter, but I get a little "on edge" when HHS struggles quite a bit against a 3A program when HHS is on the cusp of entering the 5A playoffs against the likes of CCH, Woodford County, Lincoln County, Bowling Green, Owensboro, and John Hardin.

 

I do think that it's probably difficult for a team to "get up" for each and every game, even when everything (regarding the playoffs) has already been settled and there's not much riding on the game.

 

 

While I think a large part of our "struggle" with Central was self imposed, neither you nor I should sell the Central team short. While they are "only" 3A, they do have a very nice team. It was good for our offensive linemen to play against some quality defensive linemen. There is no doubt that they were the best we've played against this year. Last year we had the "opportunity" to face Elder's, St.X's and DeSales' defensive linemen. Not only were they very good, but they were very deep at those positions. No disrespect meant to the teams on this year's schedule, but other than Central (and Central didn't have the depth) no team we've played this year has defensive linemen of the quality of Elder, St. X and DeSales.
